RACE REPORT #353 - January 24th 2026 (BTCCnm, GTnm, LMPnm, D510nm, RslotNM)
Our first event for 2026 saw a pretty small turnout, just five drivers showing up for the start of the new season. These included Peter, Steve, Warren, O'Brie and myself. However, those who couldn't make it missed out on some unique racing, something we likely will see more of this year. What we did was race one round of the three scheduled classes - Scalextric BTCC, GT and LMP - then added two unique special races, one for Slot.It Datsun 510 models specced for our Clubman class, the other for Revoslot-only cars of the same period. Peter was the owner of all but one of the Revoslot cars, these being a Datsun 510, an Opel Kadett and a Ford Escort Mk I. The fourth car was Steve's BMW 2002.
As always, the racing was full of action and excitement, along with the usual disputes and discussions that occur when very competitive racers come together. These nonetheless were each sorted out in a civil manner and the races went on with lots of track action and close pursuits. Unfortunately, Warren had to leave before we raced the Slot.It and Revoslot cars. At the end of the event, it was decided to tentatively allow Revoslot cars of the correct era to be included in our Clubman class, where they will join the existing cars which of course include the Slot.It 510s. This will be on an experimental basis to see if it is fair to all.
To close things off, we had a second board meeting refreshment break before packing up, still with smiles on our faces after all the fun we'd had.
