RACE REPORT #348 - November 1st 2025 (HSnm, APCnm, MPnm)

We had a perfect turnout for our 348th event, this one for our Historic Saloon, American Pony Car and Modified Production classes. There were exactly seven drivers, allowing full fields for every race even when Peter had to leave early for another commitment. Once again it was great to have Ramesh attend, despite knowing that his presence always guarantees extremely serious competition.

Qualifying was very close, with less than half a second separating the seven qualifiers in American Pony Car! Mod Prod was almost as close, the cars being just 0.619 apart. The top six of the seven qualifiers in Historic Saloon were also all under half a second apart. Each class had a different pole driver. With these times, we knew that the racing would be very tight and they didn't disappoint, despite a few drivers having some unexpected car issues. In Historic Saloon, just a single point separated the overall first and second placed cars. When the last car crossed the finish line for the evening, one driver stood out, grabbing the lion's share of the overall points and taking the Champion Driver award by a fair margin.

Despite there being a few issues with car impacts and auto track calls affecting things, all else worked out well. Going forward, I want all the competing cars in each race lined up at an angle on the main straight in order of the agreed finishing positions. The first three (podium) cars will start the line as always and have their photo taken, then a second photo will be taken of the remaining cars, lined up in their agreed finishing order. This will ensure that I have race result data accurately entered in the results database.

It was another successful and enjoyable FRC event and we closed up shop close to 7:00 PM after packing up the track.

It's amazing how so many FRC racing events (348) have taken place and can always say a great time at each one ... even though some were better than others ... because have attended the majority of them which have always produced some thrilling racing times, conversations and laughs among all the drivers and visitors alike :D

My personally tuned APC & MP cars won't as competitive as I would like them to be ... and probably how I am a regular TSCC competitor, I am always sponsored (from time to time by the boss himself) Ramesh tuned slotcars. I even named it my Plan B (Bhola) option ;)

Must say how ... I raced them pretty well & my Index of Performance total 7 explains it best 8-)

I had a good number of thrilling and close races with different drivers, especially with Steve in APC & MP classes ... so much so ... we were fighting for 3rd position in MP class / second race & me in a close fourth position, had to move out the way for (fast moving) Ramesh and then Gordon cars, with them going for first and second spots, that helped Steve put distance between him and myself :?

All in all ... a grand time again and hard luck for those who couldn't attend :)

Great racing event as usual at FRC !
The driver turnout was pretty decent, all grid spots being able to be filled for all races. Too bad Pete wasn't able to be with us for the full event. He missed out on some good fun ! Also missed seeing 'sometimes' racers like Warren, Keith and Mark and now regular attendee (but not yet racer, Merryl).
Qualifying was exciting and close as usual. I'm truly amazed at how fast we've gotten some of these cars to run. Historic Saloon times are now not far off what would once have been decent times for Modified Production cars.
Racing was as exciting as ever. Unfortunately there were some retirements and this is always a big disappointment for those affected.
After the racing was done, it was fun doing a few laps with O'Brie driving his Opel Kadett and me driving my Mazda RX7, both Revoslot cars but with heavily modified chassis to enable them to be legal for Historic Saloon class. Neither of these cars are competition ready but I think they have potential. More than that, they are great fun to drive and I know O'Brie will concur when I say they were tremendous fun to build.
At the end of it all, congrats go to the following:
-Ram for winning APC and Mod.Prod.
-Gordon for winning HS.
-Ram on taking the event's overall victory.
-Luke on taking Index Of Performance accolades.
Looking forward to the next event !

I love both Luke's and Steve's comments above. They show how enjoyable the racing was at Saturday's event. I fully concur with them. It really was an enjoyable and competitive event. Hoping to have another this coming Saturday!

Gordon ... look a second reply to this topic :D

It's a pleasure to peruse your FRC Reports ... and you always neatly layout (put in order) the pics of the scheduled races:
  • Firstly your Narrative Account
  • Overall Activities & BR Meeting
  • Grid 1 & 2 & PC Monitor Results
  • Racing Action from different locations of Circuit
Which inspired me with an individual chart of ... the 3 classes x 2 races with my positions, points & final result:
  • HS / 4th & 3rd = 7 pts ~ Tied 3rd with Ramesh
  • APC / 4th & 3rd = 7 pts ~ 4th
  • MP / 3rd & 4th = 7 pts ~ Tied 3rd with Steve
  • Overall Points & Position = 21 pts ~ 4th
Things look super correct & interesting all at once 8-)
