RACE REPORT #346 - September 6th 2025 (RC, TA)

We had a turnout of five drivers for our 346th event for Rally Car and Time Attack runs, including Ram, who we were glad to see as usual. We always appreciate his making the effort to do the relatively long drive from south to join us. After the rally stages, he had to rush off for another engagement, so was unable to be a part of the time attack runs.

During car testing and practice, the inside lane of the track once again slowed down dramatically from the back straight right up to the Carousel and sometimes beyond. This typically worsened when more cars were simultaneously running, bringing the cars to almost a crawl. We tried the method of disconnecting the powerbase track section then reconnecting it, however this made no difference. Ram tried using CRC 2-26 on all the rail joints, which helped slightly, however when all the cars were on track, we still got substantial power loss in the same sections. Since we'd be running just a single car at a time for both rally and time attack, this didn't affect the competition, but we definitely need to address this before the next race meet where there'd be six cars on track all at once.

During the Rally stages, Ram dominated, however both Steve and Peter got down to some very quick laps as well, getting very close to Ram's times. I chose to drive my Peugeot 205 instead of my Alpine, but I drove terribly, de-slotting several times in the stages. The big surprise was the performance of Luke's new Porsche which he just recently built, the car performing extremely well. Luke kindly offered it for use in the time attack runs and it got down to very low 8-second times and almost into the 7-second bracket.

In the end, despite just having the five of us present and just four for the time attack runs, it was an enjoyable afternoon of close rallying and time attack stages.

Gordon, Peter, Steve & Ramesh,

Another thrilling evening of indoor 132 model car racing.

I said "indoor" for a reason and will say why to the end of this worded contribution.

Rally Car is one of my favorite FRC classes ... and from ever since the first event (July 2012 / RD104) have always been taking down notes about ... http://frcforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t ... 723c830667 ... that know this was the 45th Running of Rally Competitions :!:

Clearly, it's a real pleasure spending time & racing model cars with you guys, and other than knowing you'll competetive racing ability ... Glad how each one of you, picked up on my own personally built (Porsche 911) slotcar model.

So much so, it was a happy & not so happy feeling (all at the same time) because saw how each one of you raced my Rally Car, much faster than my own BLT 8.5 seconds in Time Attack class. Too bad Ramesh didn't hang around, to have a try as well ... maybe some other time.

In all, it is a treasure knowing each one of you because I recognize (more so now) how important an individual roll you'll play making Digital Slotcar Racing events very entertaining.

Here's to a Grand Thank You gents. Plus, sorry how the other regular guys like O'brie, Liam, Keith & Warren even Ian (to name a few) could not make it to the event and will end off with ...

On my way out of Haleland Park ... I saw Kent chatting with a friend on the roadway, near the park and had to stop and say greetings.

Kent asked, now from racing and his friend said ... if it's Indoor Racing :D

A light report of Lap Times with my Scalextric (C3944) Porsche 911 No.91 model, in Time Attack Class 8-)

Image

 Best 5-Lap Stages / Fastest Laps ... Driver Names:
  • 40.892 / 8.054 ... Gordon
  • 41.706 / 8.174 ... Peter
  • 42.888 / 8.051 ... Steve
  • 46.372 / 8.523 ... Luke
  • 00.000 / 0.000 ... Ramesh (Note: Missed this part of racing contest)
... and I'm almost 6 seconds from first place :?

Well done by Gordon topping the list & have to ask myself, what was I doing  racing my own tuned slot-car

One could only imagine what lap times would be like, if Ramesh aka Ram Racing was present :D

Of all the years, the washrooms (used to be without advertising) located on the infield ...

This was the one and only time (I think) an accident like, has ever happened
