RACE REPORT #335 - March 8th 2025 (Rally Car, Time Attack)

I was the first to join Peter at FRC for our inaugural Rally and Time Attack event of 2025, but soon after, others started arriving and one of them who I was half-expecting was Ramesh, a big fan of these particular FRC events. Within short time, we had seven drivers with their cars, the eighth - Liam - arriving shortly after we had completed the first round of the rally stages. But he didn't lose out, as we let him do the missing stage to be on par with us all.

As usual, the competition was close, both with the rally stages as well as the time attack runs, some drivers doing almost perfect laps with minimal lap time variations. The cars were generally very close in times, those making the least mistakes leading the rest. This was particularly so in the case of the time attacks, where everyone drove the same FRC IROC Ferrari F430. Those able to do consistent quick times without de-slotting were at the leading edge. One driver in particular stood out though, managing to win every rally stage and one time attack stage.

Thanks to Peter for having everything prepared as usual and for cleaning the time attack Ferrari's tyres for all the drivers!

It was great to have Luke back behind the camera to take these pics to start things off:

Ram really likes our rally and time attack events and didn't miss this one:

For those who don't know or can't recall ...

Pictures used to be taken at racing events mostly by Gordon & then (sometime later) it was decided by him to regularly include in the FRC Reports ...

Starting with ... RR187 (AM, GT & LMP) & exactly 10 years ago March 2015 8-)

 Mind you ... FRC racing pics and vids were taken by others like Arden & Alex to name a few ;)

Years later in 2025, it's interesting to see how I have taken up this picture & video duty at slot-car FRC & TSCC Racing Events :D

Not bragging or even complaining but something that just happened & must admit, it's rather enjoyable, relaxing & happy to know it's well appreciated by all the other members :!:

Personally, I believe that I do a better job at this ... than all the years of my actual 1:32 racing ability

Looking at results at this (RC & Time Attack) event ... kind of displays the same unevenness with my lap times :P

Have to mention ... find the diehard guys who (Gordon, Steve, O'brie, Peter & even Keith) have been racing regularly since the Covid-19 Pandemic, all seem to know every track joint of the FRC racing circuit :D

So much so ... find Peter has been doing an excellent job at the racing events and with this recent one, it's another good example :)
  • The only weak point at this 335 event ...
It was rather strange how a decision was made (on the spot) to use one of the FRC IROC F430 cars for the Time Attack class - knowing how these type of slot-cars were (over time) suggested mostly for newcomers :?
