We had a relatively small turnout for our second event for the new year, with just five drivers turning up. Merryl also came by but did not race, although he marshalled and did some driving in between races. From this event forward, we’ve extended the race laps from 20 to 30 and this worked out well, giving more opportunities to get back in the hunt after having a mishap.
The racing was vey close. Out of the six races, we had three different winners, four second and four third placed drivers of the five who raced. Times also plummeted. In qualifying, Liam set a time of 8.733 in American Pony Car, I managed an 8.685 in Historic Saloon and Steve a 8.481 in Modified Production. The fastest race times were also low, Peter getting down to 8.825 in Historic Saloon with his beautiful new Alpine A310, Steve pushing his Javelin down to 8.767 in American Pony car and me managing to get my Zakspeed Capri down to a special one-off time of 8.145. There was a big crash early in the first American Pony Car race, with all five cars being involved.
We had a bit of a query on the results of one of the races, but took O'Brie's wise advice and stuck with the PowerBase screen display. Back in the early FRC days we had a saying - "the powerbase is always right" - so we left it there.
Despite just having five participating drivers, we all had an intense afternoon of racing which put each driver to the test, everyone leaving with smiles on their faces.
Just a single pic to start things off (unfortunately Luke couldn't attend, so we missed the usual large variety of pics):
O'Brie brought along a ton of cars after spending many hours working on them during the past few weeks:

Despite having two "board room meeting" breaks, no one remembered to take a pic. Hopefully Luke will be back for our event next Saturday.
