RACE REPORT #330 - November 23rd 2024 (BTCCnm, GTnm, LMPnm)
We had a return of Alex to FRC for the first time since October 3rd 2019, and although it was relatively brief and he did not race, he did do several practice laps in a BTCC car and was quickly running reasonable times. He liked the new Tru-Speed controllers and seemed to enjoy his short stay, drinking a beer with the guys, but had to rush off. Of course we had that few hours of torrential rain which unfortunately resulted in a small turnout, both Keith and Merryl, who were on their way, having to turn around and get out of flooded Maraval. Peter himself didn't arrive till after the races, as he had to make an airport trip and also deal with the rain.
Despite this, five drivers raced, one being Kent who has done a few laps at FRC a few times in the past but actually raced two of his own cars this time, one in GT, the other in LMP. So, welcome to Kent as an official FRC racer.
Even though the fields were generally small - some with just three cars - the competition was close and intense and it got to where you'd at times have to sit behind a car that wasn't quite as fast as your own and just hope they'd de-slot. In the second GT race we had a "photo finish", the second-place car crossing the line 73-hundredths of a second behind the winner and third place just half a second back.
Despite the low turnout and the inclement weather, it was still a fun-filled afternoon of slots.
The usual pics to start things off (thanks as always to Luke for taking most of them):
