RACE REPORT #327 - October 5th 2024 (HSnm, APCnm, MPnm)

We had a small but competitive group of exactly six drivers - one for each controller - at our 327th event for our Historic Saloon, American Pony Car and Modified Production classes.

O'Brie raced his beautiful JPS-liveried Nissan Skyline for the first time, as did Steve with his lovely little Opel Calibra, driven by Keith in Modified Production race one and by himself in race two, with a great second place result. Liam did some quick driving, placing third in the first Historic Saloon race and the second American Pony Car race, with a second once more in the first Modified Production race, giving him three podiums. Luke twice narrowly missed out on a podium, placing fourth in the first American Pony Car and Modified Production races. Unfortunately he couldn't stay for the second round of races. Two absentee regulars were Ian, who was preparing for a trip out of the country, and Warren who had come down with the flu and selflessly stayed at home, least he pass it on to anyone else. Peter too did not attend the racing, being busy with other matters that took him out on the road. They all were missed.

One of the things we did at this event was check the ground clearance of the three top finishers of each race. No cars failed. As always, it was an afternoon of competitive fun for those present and, as Steve would say, looking forward to the next event!

Great afternoon as usual of racing despite the smallish driver turnout. Nice to see Liam turning up more often now but a pity that some of the other regulars weren't able to make it. As I've said on numerous occasions, one of the great pleasures for me is seeing not previously raced cars show up to race. Such was the case with O'Brie's lovely Nissan Skyline and my not quite as lovely Opel Calibra, both for the Modified production class. Both of these cars have appeared at FRC previously but were not raced before as far as I know. The Calibra definitely wasn't.
The racing itself was close in all classes and lots of fun. In American Pony Car, Liam seemed to have a rear bumper issue with his lovely Shelby GT500 Mustang but pressed on regardless and managed to get a podium finish for his efforts. Keith had an issue with the guide blade while driving my Javelin and unfortunately had to retire from the second race.
Congrats to Gordon on winning Historic Saloon and Modified Production as well as taking the event's overall victory.
Congrats also to O'Brie on taking Index Of Performance accolades.
Looking forward to the next event !

FRC 2024 Total Driver Championship Points:

Looks pretty Thrilling & Outstanding ..!

The top 2 drivers (Gordon and Steve / 1 - 2) at an astonishing 400+ points & are apart by 42 points.

The next 2 drivers (Ian & O'brie / 3 - 4) are 200+ points & are apart by 30 points.

It sure will be intriguing to see (other than Peter) who will be the next 2 (or even 3) drivers to reach 100+ points :D

So far ... 16 FRC Events hosted in 2024 and will probably take another 4 to 5 race meets to close off the year ...

In the mean time, there are 5 persons who can make those 100 points - Warren 79, Luke T. 58, Liam 53, Ramesh 45 & Keith 42 8-)
