RACE REPORT #322 - July 27th 2024 (HSnm, APCnm, MPnm)

We had a turnout of seven drivers for our Historic Saloon, American Pony Car and Modified Production races and even fit in a Ferrari Challenge IROC race to accommodate Dominic, who was present, making it his second visit to FRC.

During the course of the afternoon, twenty-three different car/driver combinations took part in the seven races run which were all very competitive, as has become the norm of late. There were a few retirements where cars driven by O'Brie, Warren and myself had failures of one type of another during a race, but we were able to again compete in the second round of these races, having repaired or replaced the damaged cars.

It again was a great evening of keen competition that kept all drivers focused on their driving, producing lots of fun by the time we had to pack up and leave.

Luke couldn't make it so here are some pics I took start things off.

Great racing event as always at FRC !
Was nice to have most of the usual suspects present for racing except for Keith and Luke. Also nice of Dominic to join us and actually have a race. It's always nice to see new cars (or previously unraced ones)show up on a race day and this event didn't disappoint, even if all weren't actually raced. There was O'Brie's lovely JPS liveried Nissan Skyline, Ian's beautiful Gulf liveried Ford Mustang(previously seen at FRC but I'm not sure whether raced), Warren's sweet BMW 330i, two-toned Chevy Camaro and stealthy black Ferrari 512 and my Marlboro liveried, front-motored BMW 3.0 CSL. The racing was tight and exciting in all classes but there was a higher than usual number of DNFs. The qualifying in Historic Saloon and American Pony was particularly tight, with both Gordon and I doing 8.8-- in both classes. Mod. Prod. was also very close.
Congrats to O'Brie and Gordon on the joint Historic saloon victory, Gordon on Mod. Prod. and overall event victories and to Ian on taking Index Of Performance accolades.
Looking forward to the next event.
