RACE REPORT #318 - May 4th 2024 (HSnm, APCnm, MPnm)
Seven drivers got together for an afternoon of liming, old talk, some drinks and eats and, most of all, some exciting and challenging racing at FRC's 318th event, this one for our Historic Saloon, American Pony Car and Modified Production classes.
We had minimal computer issues which were generally speedily rectified and ended up doing two races for each class after qualifying. The racing was close, however different drivers had mixed fortunes, O'Brie being the one with the most issues, largely because of a misbehaving controller.
Unfortunately, I was distracted and forgot to take pictures of one qualifying session as well as some of the race results. Luckily, I was able to put together what I believe are accurate results through looking at the grid and podium pictures we take at our events. As on the previous occasion when this occurred with the qualifying, I substituted times of 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 seconds in order to get the correct qualifying sequence of the cars, yet not have any times be close to actual lap times.
Despite the few negatives, as always, it was an afternoon of the usual great camaraderie that we try to have every two or three weeks.
Following are the usual pics to start things off.
Getting things ready and chatting:
Nice view of almost the whole track:
Kent 3D-printed a couple of Savannah benches and kindly donated them to FRC:
Everyone busy with something:
Some neat cars on the workbench shelf:
Ian and I doing a little track work:
Gunther, FRC's new mascot:
Yummy eats for everyone:
