RACE REPORT #305 - Feb 4th 2023 (CMnm, HSnm, MPnm, F1nm)
We had five drivers turn up for our second event of 2023. Joining me were O'Brie, Steve, Keith and Luke T to compete in our Clubman, Historic Saloon, Modified Production and Formula 1 classes.
During a long free practice session, the SSDC software had the brakes activated, making the cars rather difficult to drive smoothly, but strangely enough and all on its own, it totally removed brakes for all our subsequent qualifying and racing sessions. This made it a much more enjoyable and controllable experience, just like we had always had with the old powerbase.
Things are starting to get more streamlined now that we're getting to grips with the new powerbase and software, so we were actually able to run six races, despite starting at near 4:30 PM - two each for Clubman and Historic Saloon, and one each for Modified Production and F1 - and taking a few breaks for a drink, some snacks and the all-important "ole talk". We finished the final race at just around 6:30 PM.
All-in-all, it was a very enjoyable afternoon, despite Luke just staying for one race and Keith for three. But it was still a lot of fun, so let's see what attendance we get for our next event.
The results
Clubman
Computer qualifying results (NOTE: For some reason my car had a fastest qualifying time of 0.002, so we used my last time of 9.894 as the official time. Also, I only realised when recording the times into the computer that Luke actually qualified in third but I set the grid incorrectly putting him behind Keith):
Clubman race 1 grid - Steve/Nissan Skyline, Gordon/NSU TT, Keith/VW Bug, Luke/Mustang GT350 and O'Brie/Escort:
Computer Clubman race 1 results:
Clubman race 2 grid - Steve/Ford Falcon, Gordon/Mini Cooper and O'Brie/Jaguar E-Type:
Computer Clubman race 2 results:
Historic Saloon
Computer qualifying results:
Historic Saloon race 1 grid - Gordon/Capri, Steve/Escort Mk II, O'Brie/Capri and Keith/Austin A40:
Computer race 1 results:
Historic Saloon race 2 grid - Gordon/Capri, Steve/BMW 2002 and O'Brie/Capri:
Computer race 2 results:
I mistakenly cleared the computer screen before taking a picture of the race 2 results, along with the fastest race times, so these are not available.
Modified Production
Computer qualifying results:
Modified Production grid - Gordon/Zakspeed Capri, Steve/Peugeot 406, O'Brie/BMW 320i and Keith/Peugeot 406.
Computer race results (NOTE: The SSDC software showed a strange result in the overall places, as my Capri basically led the race from start to finish, with Steve finishing second):
F1
Computer qualifying results:
F1 grid - Gordon/McLaren, Steve/Ferrari and O'Brie/Lotus
Computer race results:
