RACE REPORT #301 - Sep 10th 2022 (MPnm, GTnm, LMPnm, F1nm)
Steve, Warren, O'Brie, Luke and Keith joined me at FRC for what turned out to be both a track/powerbase repair attempt as well as testing, practice, qualifying (just for Modified Production) one race each for Modified Production, GT, LMP and F1, all of course without traction magnets.
Once again we were faced with powerbase issues. We were able to run qualifying for the first race for Modified Production cars, but after that, lap times were out the window and we mentally kept track of car placings during the races. We've now made a commitment to replace the powerbase with the C7042 Scalextric Digital Advanced 6 Car Powerbase:
We also plan to replace the corner lane changers with regular standard curves and as many of the x-change straight sections as necessary.
Despite these setbacks, we had the usual enjoyable time and all was finally packed up by about 8:30PM.
Warren spent a lot of time at the workbench:
The results
Mod Prod grid: Steve's Peugeot, O'Brie's BMW, my Zakspeed Capri, Keith driving Steve's Zakspeed Escort and Warren driving another of Steve's Peugeots:
Drivers about to start the first race for Modified Production cars:
Mod Prod podium cars:
A little amusing on-track practice scenario when O'Brie's Toyota scooped up my Porsche:
We rolled dice for the GT grid, but I forgot to take the grid pics, however Keith got pole for his BMW M1, I got grid two for my Porsche 911R, O'Brie got grid three for the Steve-loaner Ferrari 512 BB, Warren got grid four for his McLaren MP4 12C and Steve got grid five for his Lotus Elise.
GT podium cars:
LMP grid, based on the reverse of the rolled dice GT grid: Steve's Lancia, followed by O'Brie's Toyota, my Audi R18 and Keith driving Steve's Lola B09/60:
LMP podium cars:
Once again, we rolled the dice for the F1 grid: Steve's McLaren, my McLaren, Keith driving O'Brie's Williams and O'Brie's Lotus:
F1 podium cars:
