RACE REPORT #287 - Jan 30th 2021 (CM)

Long-time friend Stanley joined myself, O'Brie, Steve and Keith for our 287th event where we had the usual fun driving around in our various magless cars. Some tweaks, adjustments and repairs were also done as is the norm on any racetrack. Stan said he hadn't driven slot cars since about twenty-five years ago when he got a set for his son. Nonetheless, he enjoyed driving a number of my cars, some challenging him more than others. He had to leave before we got down to running three Clubman races very late in the afternoon, so he didn't do any races.

Despite deciding to race pretty late, we qualified the cars, doing them all together as a 3-minute qualifying session.

Great afternoon as usual at FRC driving/racing these classes that have been and continue to be so much fun developing the cars for. I think we'll have a lot of fun with the Vintage Sports GT class. Lovely having Stanley join us . The puffs that he brought along were also much appreciated and enjoyed ! We do seem to be having so much fun just driving though that the actual racing gets going a bit later than planned so maybe we should find a way to start racing earlier. I think the qualifying method used (all cars on the track at the same time) works great and we should stick with it.
Looking forward to the next event !
