Stop button and it’s use.

Gordon,

With regards to the stop button when a crash is made by a driver. I have seen A certain driver purposely not pressing the button when they crash and are in last position. I believe a penalty should be introduced for any driver not pressing the button when they crash. I was chasing another car and ran into the car expecting the button to be pressed. I crashed into the car and had to press the button. I race fairly and enjoy racing and being competitive while others are not all fair.
I believe a penalty should be introduced before others start doing same to others.

Arden, I'm a stickler for fair racing and agree with you. What do think is a fair penalty?

1 lap.
Ensure it is not done.
I know it is harsh but prevention is better. Let’s get some other views, Steve, Ram?

And the penalty could be even harsher with disqualification as a true deterrent! Disrupting the race like that is a sign that you are no longer interested in racing anyway!

Thank goodness I hardly racing because is only diehard racers anyway ;)

Now if and when ~ count them on one hand ~ I happen to race ...

Is boss sponsored cars (like F1 Mercedes) that can’t come last 8-)

At the same time - this new issue made me remember (when switches were first installed) a rule about pushing someone else switch and not yours - was an automatic disqualification.

Which was never caused by me but others.

I agree that anything done on the race track to purposely disrupt a race, including crashing and not pressing the button, should be penalized. I really can't see the benefit to the offending driver though, of crashing and purposely not pressing the button. In my view, if one suffers a crash, it would be in one's own interest to have all other cars come to a stop as quickly as possible.

Arden ...

Top of page … One could tell from your writing, how dissatisfied you are about situation.
  • If & when you should crash into a (waiting) crashed car ..!
Here’s a manoeuvre, if something like that should happen next time.
  • Don’t bother about/with any new penalty ... There’s enough written & unwritten ones if you remember them!
You do not press your stop button as well, hold-up on your Mr. Nice Guy behavior & then put into effect ...
  • The Big Men Clause rule.
It may or may not solve the issue immediately but it will sure ’ruffle some feathers’~ pointing out the individual.
  • Bet yuh it’s stopped ~ in the fullness of time :D

Gentlemen, my father had a saying “Two wrongs don’t make a right”. Let’s leave the past behind, focus on the future and fix the problem.

Please everyone, let’s follow the procedures to maintain order. When your car de-slots, hit the button as soon as possible.

Sure every person will (now) follow such well worded instructions by Gordon for FRC’s 2020 racing days 8-)

Like the words ”… maintain order”.

So much so ~ no new rules or penalties needed :)
