RACE REPORT #278 - September 19th 2019 (KB, HS, APC, VS6075)
After two successive Saturdays of work on trying to improve FRC's track power, we had our first event on a very well-powered track. Both lanes, the infield and everywhere else on the track showed significant power. The days of trying to pass a slightly slower car on the less-powered outer lane are over. Of course this meant having to re-learn how to drive our cars, so there were lots of spills both in practice and during the races themselves.
We started with our newly renamed Scratch Built class, now more accurately called "Kitbash" and everyone agreed that these are some of the most enjoyable cars to drive. The Historic Saloon grid was dominated by Ford Capris, with Steve's quick little MGB being the only exception. American Pony Car qualifying was ultra-close, the first four cars covered by six-hundredth of a second! Vintage Sports '60-'75 GT had the widest spread of times, followed by the Prototype category of the same class.
Although only five drivers took part, it was an enjoyable night of slot racing for everyone.
