How hard is it to set up a car for FRC's classes? Here's how I look at them:
  1. Slot.It Challenge (SC) - Easy
  2. Formula 1 (F1) - Easy
  3. Rally Car (RC) - Easy
  4. Historic Saloon (HS) - Medium
  5. Vintage Sports '60-'75 (VS6075) - Medium
  6. American Pony Car (APC) - Medium
  7. Modified Production (MP) - Medium to Hard
  8. Restricted GT (RGT) - Medium to Hard
  9. Restricted LMP (RLMP) - Medium to Hard
What are your thoughts? You can answer like this (using my answers as an example):

A, B, C - Easy; D, E, F - Medium, G, H, I - Medium to Hard

My opinion is that F1 and Rally are Medium. I agree with Gordon's ratings for the other classes.

Ok, my first list at the top of this post was based on building a car that complies with the class rules. Here are my views on building a competitive car (a front-runner) for the classes:

Easy: A
Medium: B, D, E, F
Hard: C, G, H, I

In reality however, I have spent a tremendous amount of time setting up every car for all of our classes in an effort to get as much performance out of the cars as possible, based on the various class rules. This means that, for me, preparing a car for any of our classes can be pretty hard.

Hi guys i dont know how to comment on hard or easy because they are all challenging , none of the car set ups are straight forward , every build has its differences and thats what i like so much about slot car building , its so much fun to try something new and see how it works on race night . For me building the faster cars are a lot easier but learning to slow cars down and handle has been a great eye opening experience and made me a lot better builder, using less power but still maintaining competitive times. I must thank all the guys at FRC for that opportunity and making me work a lot more in order to be on the podium.I am always happy when i see the new things being shared at FRC , its either a new motor , a new car , chassis ,etc. I really do hope we can get at least two more serious guys on board so as to to make up a full grid at all times. See you guys soon.

Great reply there Ram. I understand and agree with your points. Of course, we are all aware that you are our biggest challenge when preparing our cars for any class and we hope to see you always somewhat challenged by our efforts to follow in your footsteps.
