Hi Guys,

FRC will be open for practice, testing and racing from 7:30 PM this Thursday (4th October) for our Group A classes - Historic Saloon (HS), American Pony Car (APC), Vintage Sports '60-'75 (VS6075).

Here's the usual schedule:
  • Free practice and testing up to 8:30 PM
  • 8:30 PM - Technical Inspection (excluding IROC classes). Cars will be moved to the parc fermé location after they are inspected and comply with the requirements.
  • Qualifying followed by racing. Drivers not ready when called to grid will be replaced by any standby drivers who are ready.
  • Post-race Technical Inspection (if required).
  • After racing - Packing up and liming/old talk (but not too late!).
Key points to pass tech inspection:
  • Historic Saloon - Motor up to 18,000 RPM; USD rule. All magnets must be positioned ahead of centreline of the distance between guide flag pivot point and rear axle; Standard wheels; Angle-winder pods are prohibited; Body width may not exceed 60 mm.
  • American Pony Car - Motor up to 21,500 RPM; USD rule. All magnets must be positioned ahead of centreline of the distance between guide flag pivot point and rear axle; Standard wheels; Front tyre minimum diameter: 17mm on wheel. Rear tyre minimum diameter: 19mm on wheel. 8mm maximum tyre width.
  • Vintage Sports '60-'75 GT - Motor up to 18,000 RPM; USD rule. Magnets must be positioned within 40 mm and forward of the rear axle (this is the forward magnet position on a Slot.It motor pod); Any chassis is allowed. 90gm minimum weight.
  • Vintage Sports '60-'75 Prototype - Motor up to 22,500 RPM; USD rule. Magnets must be positioned within 40 mm and forward of the rear axle (this is the forward magnet position on a Slot.It motor pod); Any chassis is allowed. 77gm minimum weight.
  • All classes that stipulate the USD rule - Cars must drop away from a C7016 Scalextric Single Lane Half-straight 175mm that is held still (no shaking) in an upside-down position. Any weight added to the car must be positioned within 2.5" (64mm) and ahead of the rear axle.
Vintage Sports GT and Prototype will be run as a combined class with three races, but with separate results and points. Each category has three reserved grid positions, but if there are fewer than three qualifiers in either category, the extra places may be filled by the other category.

You can see the 2018 class regulations here and the general racing regulations here.

Don't forget to bring along some refreshments.

Will be there for sure.
I love the photo of the tiny Mini racing against the huge Ford Fairlane. Amazing how the Minis, with their
1,275 cc. engines were able to hold their own against far more powerful cars, including the likes of the Fairlane with at least 5 litres worth of V8 !

Comments on the HS pic:

Surely DNF on the driver in the Mini (not timing good) shutting the door on the massive Ford motor car ..! It seems to be such a crazy move and sure there were major damages to the Mini ...

A well timed photograph though.

Nah Luke, I don't think so. Just a little fender-bender. That's what you can expect when the racing gets close.

Also - remembered how me, my brother and two sisters use to get a drop to school (late 60s) in a Ford car looking just like that :)

Yeh boi ..!

I distinctly remember those days with the four of us sitting comfortably in the back seat and we use talk about that same wide looking rear view mirror :D

Childhood days I don’t think I will forget because the back seat was like a children’s party room for the amount of space 8-)

Mentioned like a true racing driver Gordon and exactly like (front and rear fenders) in the American Pony Car pic :-)
