RACE REPORT #256 - August 9th 2018 (MP, RGT, RLMP)
Despite rainy weather and a sink hole on the highway that unfortunately prevented south boys Ramesh and Arden from attending, we still had a good turnout of eight drivers, seven of which competed in the night's races. From early in the evening, we realised that the track power was a bit lower than normal, despite the power supply being set at the usual 14V, so the cars were a bit less peppy than we would expect for these fast classes. As a result only a single car got under 5 sec in qualifying. Nonetheless, we pressed on and had some exciting races.
Anthony had his first real taste of digital racing when he drove my Porsche 911R in Restricted GT against five other racers and, from his comments afterwards ("This is the real thing!"), he's sure to be back with cars of his own. During the first RGT race both O'Brie's Porsche and my Viper retired as a result of impacts, the Porsche breaking a motor mount and the Viper's motor becoming dislodged.
We missed the competition from south, Ramesh always being the pacesetter, but they'll hopefully be back at FRC for our next event.

As we were running late, for Restricted LMP we decided to roll a dice for grid positions and have a single 11 minute race. The grid comprised Steve's Peugeot 908; O'Brie's Porsche 956, my Toyota 88C, Steve's Lola B09/60 driven by Keith and O'brie's Sauber Mercedes driven by Richard:

Re: Race report #256 - Thursday Aug 9th 2018 (MP, RGT, RLMP)
Great night of racing as usual at FRC. Sorry Team Bhola couldn't make it but there was a good turnout of drivers anyway. The racing itself was great fun and it was nice seeing the variety of cars in the field. Wonderful to see Richard racing, for the first time, his own car, chipped and prepared by himself. Too bad that both Gordon and O'Brie suffered some problems in the Restricted GT class. The results could have been significantly different if they didn't.
Congrats to Gordon on winning the Modified Production and LMP classes and to Keith on winning Restricted GT. Congrats also to Richard on taking the Index Of Performance honours and to Gordon on the night's overall victory.
Looking forward to the next event.

How much laps was done in the 11 min race?
Re: Race report #256 - Thursday Aug 9th 2018 (MP, RGT, RLMP)
Honestly, I can't remember. Maybe one of the other guys can. I do remember remarking that it wasn't as many as we thought it would be, because the time kept running on whenever any of our "stop" buttons was activated while cars were re-slotted.
Re: Race report #256 - Thursday Aug 9th 2018 (MP, RGT, RLMP)
I believe we did 45 laps in the 11 minute race.
