Racing this Thursday 12th April (RC, SC, F1)

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

FRC will be open for practice, testing and racing from 7:30 PM this Thursday (12th April) for our 2018 Group B classes - Rally Car (RC), Slot.It Challenge (SC), Formula 1 (F1). Once we get some feedback on entries for our two latest classes American Pony Car Sportsman (APCS) and GT Sportsman (GTS), we will start scheduling them into our regular events. As always, we'll run special IROC races for newcomers if we have at least two new drivers present.

We plan to start at 8:30PM sharp. Here's the usual schedule:
  • Free practice and testing up to 8:30 PM
  • 8:30 PM - Technical Inspection (excluding IROC classes). Cars will be moved to the parc fermé location after they are inspected and comply with the requirements.
  • Qualifying followed by racing. Drivers not ready when called to grid will be replaced by any standby drivers who are ready.
  • Post-race Technical Inspection (if required).
  • After racing - Packing up and liming/old talk (but not too late!).
Key points to pass tech inspection:
  • Rally Car - If visible, interior must have both driver and navigator figures (heads minimum); no traction magnets; "Magnet-effect" motors are not allowed.
  • Slot.It Challenge - Group C Slot.It cars only; single standard Slot.It "non-race" magnet (the one with the grooves); Slot.It tyres.
  • Formula 1 - F1 or F1-type body (must be painted - no unpainted bodies allowed); 63mm maximum width; any motor up to 18,000 RPM; USD rule - magnets must be positioned at least 5.5mm ahead of rear axle; wheels 14mm max diameter without tyres; tyres at least 18mm diameter; rear tyres at least 11mm wide.
You can see the 2018 class regulations here and the general racing regulations here.

Don't forget to bring along some refreshments.

Fellas, I forgot to mention... don't forget to bring along your USD test blocks/track pieces. Whichever one the cars fall off of most easily will be the official USD test block for the event.

Gordon,

In connection with this Thursday racing event ...

Would it be the 249th outing or recognized as FRC’s noteworthy 250th event .. :?: 8-)

Thought I could find out one time ;)

Luke, since the last event turned out to be a test session, it cannot be counted as an official event. This week's event will be the 249th.
