RACE REPORT #248 - March 8th 2018 (MP, RGT, RLMP)

Seven drivers turned up for our night of fast classes which featured some extremely quick machines. Despite the new "no shaking" USD rule which theoretically should have slowed the cars slightly, new overall lap records were set in all three classes run, Modified Production (MP), Restricted GT (RGT) and Restricted LMP (RLMP). The target times to aim for are now going to be harder than ever to hit, far less to beat.

This was the first event since last weekend's installation of track power kill-switches for all drivers and the new system took a little getting used to. Despite this, their function worked perfectly and definitely improved the racing for everyone.

Congratulations to the winners!

Next event's classes: Class grouping A - Historic Saloon (HS), American Pony Car (APC), Vintage Sports '60-'75 (VS6075).

Don't forget to see the updated overall fastest times and the fastest times by driver and class for 2018 to know what the benchmarks are for your cars, the updated class average qualifying times and the updated fastest times for 2018.

See you on the circuit...

Great night of racing as usual at FRC. The newly installed track track call buttons took some getting used to but ultimately proved very effective. The racing was as close as ever and the cars were FAST ! Pity both Peter and O'Brie had to leave before the racing ended.
Congrats to Ram on winning all classes raced and, of course, the Champion Driver of the night. Congrats also to Luke on taking the Index Of Performance honours.
Looking forward to the next event.
Steve

Thanks but all due respect - even though my name is at the top of Index of Performance fame - there’s a tie in points :)

 Concerning the 6 kill switch track call buttons ...

At one time and earlier in the night (long before racing) even before the south boys (Ram and Arden) arrived. Lots of pointers and rules from (that seemed to be) off the top of one’s head ... kept coming up. Which is perfectly understandable with the new kill switch buttons feature but what seemed strange and for example - that if the number 5 driver pushes the number 4 button - it’s an automatic disqualification.

Sounds cool right but what wasn’t appreciated - how all eyes were on me right after the ruling comment was made and lol everybody.

All yuh don’t know - that can cause one to suffer from an inferiority complex ..! Mind you not that I would be the person because take this as an example ... It so happened during one of the races - I was a number 5 driver and crashed which I quickly responded pushing on the (correct) number 5 button and right away was highly complimented by the driver with the number 4 button - I rest my case ;-)

Luke, you like to do practical jokes so that makes you a natural target for things like this ;)

... Natural Target ..?
Strange though Gordon when I’m quiet and in a somewhat non talkative mood. I am now asked why so quiet Luke because even you asked once ... but it’s okay.

It’s a situation - damned if I do, damned if I don't ... :)

Surprisingly this reminded me of my Mom back in my St. Anthony’s secondary schooldays - she use to ask if I was the class clown. Not trying to be rude and knowing fellas 10 times better than me replied - at least not the class boboli Mom ... and she would say okay son softly

Some quiet thoughts,

Luke
