RACE REPORT #245 - January 18th 2018 (MP, RGT, RLMP)
FRC had a great opening event for 2018, with six veteran regulars and four first-time digital drivers bringing lots of activity and action to the track. We raced our Group C classes, Modified Production (MP), Restricted GT (RGT) and Restricted LMP (RLMP) - currently FRC's quickest - and the speeds were blazingly fast, new lap records being set in RGT and RLMP. It was great to have Devi, Crix, Neil and Shaun join us to experience digital slot racing for the first time and they seemed to have a ball driving FRC's Ferrari Challenge IROC cars. Hopefully we'll be seeing lots more of them at upcoming events.
Mad Max made an appearance at FRC in his Ford Falcon XB interceptor, doing a few laps before leaving the track to the racers:

See you on the circuit...

Thanks for posting pics of the MMII slotcar Gordon ...
It was doing 8 second lap times at first (with stock 18K rpm Motor and Rubber tyres) but with some Silicone tyres only ~ times went to 7.5 seconds best lap time which is rather slow and maybe 5.5 seconds would have been much better.
Although was handling rather well with the silicones and from the time you pushed ... Off it goes into the corners - somewhat obzocky when it crashes but well favoured for looking like the replica of the V8 Interceptor also known as a Pursuit Special driven by Max Rockatansky (Mel Gibson) in the movie MAD MAX II

Had a good time testing model all the same.

Great 2018 season opener at FRC. It was nice to get back to racing after the Christmas break and the opening event was a great one, with full grids in all classes raced. It was also very encouraging to see four newcomers (at least new to digital racing) taking part in the action. Hopefully they will become regulars at FRC. The racing itself was very close and I particularly enjoyed some very tight racing with O'Brie, especially in the Modified Production class.Luke's 'Mad Max' Ford Falcon provided an interesting diversion from the actual racing and did some pretty quick laps on the track.
Congrats to Ramesh on winning all classes raced and, of course taking the overall honours. Congrats also to O'Brie on his Index Of Performance win.
Looking forward to the next event.
