RACE REPORT #243 - November 9th 2017 (HS, APC, VS6075)
Thursday night was back in time to the '60s and '70s for our Historic Saloon (HS), American Pony Car (APC) and Vintage Sports '60-'75 (VS6075) classes. With six drivers attending we had full grids for the first two classes and five drivers for the last. New lap records for the current spec cars were set in all three classes, with several cars going under the previous records, so this is an indication of how hard the guys are working on prepping their cars. Two of these were set by Ramesh, the third by O'Brie. The resulting racing was fast and exciting for a great night of competition and camaraderie.
New Cars
We had two brand new car models never seen at FRC before, both introduced by Steve. The first was a new Scalextric Ford Falcon which he ran in HS, the second a Scalextric AMC Javelin for APC. Both cars had impressive debuts, setting very fast qualifying times. Ramesh had introduced the new advanced motor-pod-based SRC wide-bodied Capri at our previous HS races and this time arrived with a narrow-bodied version for Arden to drive.
Results
The drivers prepare to do battle. L to R are Luke, Arden, Ramesh, Steve and O'Brie. Yours truly is behind the camera.
Historic Saloon starting grid. A landmark moment as O'Brie gets his first pole since November 2015 driving his quick Capri, followed by Steve's new Ford Falcon, my Capri, Ramesh's Capri, Arden's Capri and Luke's Escort:
American Pony Car starting grid. Ramesh's blazing fast Camaro sits on pole while behind are Steve's new almost-as-fast Javelin, Arden's Camaro, Luke's Camaro, My Mustang and O'Brie's Camaro:

Congratulations to the winners!
Next event's classes: Class grouping B - Rally Car (RC), Slot.It Challenge (SC), Formula 1 (F1) / Mixed GT (MGT) IROC (3 races/stages).
Don't forget to see the updated overall fastest times and the fastest times by driver and class for 2017 to know what the benchmarks are for your cars, the updated class average qualifying times and the updated fastest times for 2017.
See you on the circuit...

Re: Race report #243 - Thursday Nov 9th 2017 (HS, APC, VS607
Great night of racing as usual at FRC. I really enjoy seeing new cars make their debut at FRC and was quite excited to try my Ford Falcon (as raced and won at Bathurst by Alan Moffat) and AMC Javelin (George Follmer's Trans Am championship winning car). They both performed quite well but still need a bit of fettling. Was also nice to see another new Capri, raced by Arden. Congrats to Gordon on winning the HS class and Index of Performance and to Ramesh on winning everything else.
Looking forward to the next event.

I did tell you sorry Arden and yes indeed how Gordon, Steve and O'Brie are gaining ground and unlike me only making up numbers at racing events ... Without doubt their competing levels are running high and as though they are working with the catchphrase - all for one and one for all ..!
During the racing it was somewhat interesting how I was told I'm being disqualified from a next race probably due to my poor driving standards and for calling out a GO Re-Start when I wasn't the lead car
The disqualification wasn't enforced but if it had happened (like a Red Card in football) it would have been a first and I had no problem with but it would have been a cue for me to leave.
You said I would have been immature if I had done that (but inappropriate as it may sound) that's a-okay because it's not such a bad thing keeping some silly ways in our adult "mature" lives. Yes we are all grown men but quite sure each one of us have gotten on "childish" at some point in time somewhere else ..!
The long and short of my comments (above) after this particular event - I am sorry and could plainly say (also feeling it in my spirit) I have not only lost the interest for tuning slotcars but also that loving feeling for racing slotcars !!!
Your good buddy still,
Luke

Great Fun Guys!!
Thanks to the South boys for making the effort!
And to the host for putting up with us!
Hip Hip Hooray!
I for one will try to get my cars tuned a bit better each time and hope that I can catch up with the front runners.
I will have to tryout the two extremities of the control station more often or not get any pole positions in future!!!
