RACE REPORT #241 - Oct 5th 2017 (RC, SC, F1)

With a six-driver turnout, we had perfect grids for our Slot.It Challenge (SC) and Formula 1 (F1) races and a nice group for our Rally Car (RC) stages which we ran first. There was very close competition in the rally stages, particularly between Ramesh and Steve who headed the time sheets. It was great to have Luke T in attendance after a bit of absence from our events and he proved to be quick, sharing third place with Arden and myself in the three stages. Arden set blistering qualifying times in SC and F1, setting a new all-time lap record in the former using two of his "mechanic's" (Ramesh's) cars. As usual however, one driver took the lion's share of winnings and without even mentioning his name I'm sure you know who he is!

Congratulations to the winners.

Next event's classes: Class grouping C: Modified Production (MP), Restricted GT (RGT), Restricted LMP (RLMP) / Nissan Super Series (NSS) IROC (3 races).

Don't forget to see the updated overall fastest times and the fastest times by driver and class for 2017 to know what the benchmarks are for your cars, the updated class average qualifying times and the updated fastest times for 2017.

See you on the circuit...

Great night of racing as usual at FRC. Nice to see Luke after a bit of an absence from racing. Congrats to Arden on his two pole positions. Congrats also to Ram on winning all classes raced as well as taking the Index Of Performance accolades.
Looking forward to the next event.
Steve

A notable gesture (and normally done in other situations) by Gordon not taking any points after/when racing his (well and neatly built) prototype F1 car ... even though it is already doing competitive BLT of 5.5 seconds.

Yes Arden raced very well but he had me in stitches of laughter when he called drive-through on me (for just nudging his car) right after he caused a drive through O'Brie's car. He reminded me of my nephew (racing together years ago) how he complained to his Dad and to tell uncle Luke stop bouncing his car

I even remembered the appropriate reply my nephew got from his Dad - that's what racing cars do sometimes son ... correct ent Arden ;)

No doubt whatsoever about any of Ramesh's tuned slotcars and how he (quietly) goes about pointing out the exact drawbacks with anybody else's slotcar having an issue. It's very inspiring for anyone - especially knowing what he is capable of ... with 132 cars 8-)

On a separate note - Steve and O'Brie's light conversation about secondary and university schooling caught my attention by chance. Basically it was about setbacks any student can encounter and the solutions for such issues - improving one's progress. The problem though - is recognizing the issue for the correct solution :|

Which also goes hand in hand with tuning slotcars ... or anything else in life.

A quick take on FRC drivers having an enjoyable and relaxing night of racing.

I remembered one more thing that had me in stitches of laughter ...

When I said - GO restarting a race and I wasn't the one to do so ... I saw the chance happening before it happened and tried my best not to be mischievous and just couldn't help myself ... Mind you - if boo was around - things might have been the same him saying GO :D

Anyway - promise I wont make it a habit.

Good Morning Gordon,

On a serious note - today being a new light and in general terms (my mother once told me) comes new mercies ..!

In other words being grateful for the day ... and for what I wrote day before.
A notable gesture (and normally done in other situations) by Gordon not taking any points after/when racing his (well and neatly built) prototype F1 car ... even though it is already doing competitive BLT of 5.5 seconds.
Is it possible to post (one-off) scoresheets of qualifying times and racing results ... with (6 drivers) you included competing with your prototype F1 car ..?

The time and effort you have invested setting up this type model car for a future (2018) group of F1 cars - I'm quite sure would be interesting for all to peruse.

Simply put - available data down the individual path you're taking :)

Nice comments from everyone. I particularly like some of Luke's. They were fun reading, as well as thought-provoking. I'll post the F1 qualifying and race results including my prototype car once I get the time when I'm on my computer at work where the database is stored.

Hello Guys,

Haven't been on the forum for a while. Great to see all the comments.
Hoping to get more of my cars ready in the future.

Luke, here are the results if my F1 car was included:

Of course this is pretty meaningless since everyone else would have had better results all around were they running to the specs that I was.

There is no ifs, buts or maybes how well your prototype F1 car raced - all the same though, there is something very easily seen because of the car I raced from the results ...

Your preliminary built model just held on to (3) three straight podium finishes of traditionally built models.

Something to think about ...
