Racing this Thursday 7th September

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

FRC will be open for practice, testing and racing from 7:30 PM this Thursday (7th September) for our Group C classes - Modified Production (MP), Restricted GT (RGT), Restricted LMP (RLMP).

We plan to start at 8:30PM sharp. Here's the usual schedule:
  • Free practice and testing up to 8:30 PM
  • 8:30 PM - Technical Inspection (excluding IROC classes). Cars will be moved to the parc fermé location after they are inspected and comply with the requirements.
  • Qualifying followed by racing. Drivers not ready when called to grid will be replaced by any standby drivers who are ready.
  • Post-race Technical Inspection (if required).
  • After racing - Packing up and liming/old talk (but not too late!).
Key points to pass tech inspection:
  • Modified Production - Motors up to 23,500 RPM; no American muscle/pony cars allowed; 1.0 mm ground clearance (see the "General" section of the class regulations for a picture of how this will be checked in 2017); magnet location restriction if motor exceeds 20,000 RPM; USD rule.
  • Restricted GT - Motors up to 23,500 RPM; 1.0 mm ground clearance (see the "General" section of the class regulations for a picture of how this will be checked in 2017); USD rule.
  • Restricted LMP - Motors up to 25,000 RPM; 1.0 mm ground clearance (see the "General" section of the class regulations for a picture of how this will be checked in 2017); USD rule.
You can see the 2017 class regulations here and the general racing regulations here.

Don't forget to bring along some refreshments.

Looking at pic number 3 ... and sure anyone will agree.

To the same degree those 2 Mercedes (guessing 1960s) LMP racing cars brings to mind how the 2 Mercedes (modern day) F1 racing cars probably looks on track so many years later :-)

They're Sauber C9 Group C cars from 1987 Luke:

I didn't make the connection to today's Silver Arrows, but that's a good point. You're as observant as usual!

As early as 1987 :?: :!:

I can't believe I was off by as much as 20 years ..!

Anyway Gordon - thanks much for the lesson and link :)

Btw - the connection I'm referring to with 2 LMP cars and the (Sliver Arrows) F1 cars - they race 1 - 2 in and out of corners on respective circuits in different times.

Strange to see AEG in front of cars and not the normal AMG letters ...

I just recognize why I was guessing the 1960s century Gordon ... because the numbers 62 & 63 (on the cars) had a part to play thinking so

Also came across some cool (online) info ~ other than the seen Slot.it brand models ...

Scalextric also produce (item no. C468) a replica of the Sauber Mercedes AEG No.62 car and for all you know the No.63 as well 8-)

Have a nice day,

Luke
