RACE REPORT #232 - May 11th 2017 (F1, GT, LMP)

A driver turnout of just four didn't dampen the fun and competition at last Thursday's FRC event for our Formula 1 (F1), GT and LMP classes. In fact, things were a bit more relaxed than usual with a lot of socialising in between the racing. Despite this the competition was very close, particularly in GT and LMP and there were some serious challenges to Ramesh's usual domination. His Cadillac unfortunately sustained some damage after a crash in the final LMP race, spoiling some very close racing at the front and leaving him to limp home in last place as a consequence.

Driving these extremely fast cars wasn't without some spectacular crashes. This was my Lola-Aston after a wild spin entering the corner before the back straight during one of the LMP races. Notice the direction chevrons vs the car's direction:

Congratulations to the winners!

Next event's classes: Class grouping A - Nissan Super Series IROC (Avg of 6 races), Modified Production (3 races), Restricted GT (3 races).

As usual, don't forget to see the updated fastest times for the FRC classes to know what the benchmarks are for your cars, the updated class average qualifying times and the updated fastest times for 2017.

See you on the circuit...
Gordon

I posted the Champion Driver results twice instead of the second one being the Index of Performance results. Will correct this on Monday when I'm back on my work computer.

Hello Gordon,

Happy (to read) a good time was had by all ... and hard luck I missed out on yet another racing event :-/

I did mention (in a text to you) how I was making plans to be present at FRC but it all fell apart by mid-afternoon ... I got an unexpected phone call from a friend and maybe being on holidays I was asked to help prep (Bimini, Gas, Groceries, extra battery etc.) his family boat at a boatyard in Cocorite - for a down the islands weekend trip.

I thought it would have been at least a hour of help but it took up most of the evening because there was a problem with the Bimini covering going on the aluminum frame. So a next drive was made to an upholsterer all the way into Diego Martin and this is what used up the time.

By the time it was all finished and got a drop back home around 6:30pm to get ready for FRC ... After a cold bath and then some time to help out with my parents dinner and they then having a good night rest ... I was all out of energy doing anything else other than just seeing about myself and locking up the home. This is when I decided to send a message to Steve instead of you ~ that I couldn't make racing again and knew Steve would get this info to you (and others) faster because of how busy you could be at that time of evening.

Glad I took the time to write an explanation and hope you understand the situation.

Luke

I understand Luke. Till reading this I thought that you didn't make it because of what we spoke about at my office. I know how getting a boat prepped can eat up time. Things almost never go as planned. You'd have enjoyed the racing and the company though, so I'm sorry you missed it.

Gordon,

Look how FRC is already on a third rounds of racing (group A) in 2017 ...

However - I would like to draw to your attention and it's concerning (when checking back) the first round of races which started with event No. 225 ... The scheduled MGT cars wasn't raced & likewise with the alternating NSS cars (remember) in the second rounds.

Here's my roll call of the scheduled classes and how it went by in the specific way below ...
  • Absent at RR232 - F1, GT & LMP
Present at RR231 - FLNM, RC & SC (note: SGTC no longer raced)
    Absent at RR230 - HS, APC & VS6075
Absent at RR229 - NSS, MP & RGT (note: NSS wasn't raced)

    Present at RR228 - F1, GT & LMP
Present at RR227 - MC, RC & SC (note: MC was raced)
    Present at RR226 - HS, APC & VS6075
Present at RR225 - MGT, MP & RGT (note: MGT wasn't raced)
That said - how about taking steps to race the "hit it big" MTG event .. :?:
  • Next Race Day No. 233 - NSS, MP & RGT (note: resume with the MGT cars)
I could have put this point across in one sentence but decided to go with a detailed layout :-)

Luke

Fun night of racing at FRC. Thanks for the F1 loaner Ram. Congrats to Gordon on his LMP victory and to Ran on his victories in F1 and GT as well as taking the overall title. Thanks for showing the Index Of Performance results Gordon. At least I see I am still capable of winning something !
Looking forward to the next event .
Steve
