Hi Guys,

FRC will be open for practice, testing and racing from 7:30 PM this Thursday (2nd February) for our 2017 Group B classes, Historic Saloon (3 races), American Pony Car (3 races), Vintage Sports '60-'75 (3 races).

Remember that we try to start our events no later than 8:30PM sharp. Here's the usual schedule:
  • Free practice and testing up to 8:30 PM
  • 8:30 PM - Technical Inspection (excluding IROC classes).
  • Qualifying followed by racing. Drivers not ready when called to grid will be replaced by any standby drivers who are ready.
  • Post-race Technical Inspection (if required)
  • After racing - Packing up and liming/old talk (but not too late!).
Key points to pass tech inspection:

HS and VS6075 have some new requirements for 2017 and APC is a brand new class, so be sure that your cars comply with the regs. The requirements listed below are mandatory.
  • Historic Saloon - Motor up to 18,000 RPM; USD rule. All magnets must be positioned ahead of centreline of the distance between guide flag pivot point and rear axle; Standard wheels.
  • American Pony Car - Motor up to 21,500 RPM; USD rule. All magnets must be positioned ahead of centreline of the distance between guide flag pivot point and rear axle; Standard wheels; Front tyre minimum diameter: 17mm on wheel. Rear tyre minimum diameter: 19mm on wheel.
  • Vintage Sports '60-'75 - Motor up to 22,500 RPM; 1.0 mm minimum ground clearance; USD rule. Magnets must be positioned in ONE of the standard magnet locations; Chassis may be substituted by one that is designed SPECIFICALLY FOR THAT MODEL which uses a Slot.It motor pod.
You can see the 2017 class regulations here and the general racing regulations here.

Don't forget to bring along some refreshments.

Top photo ...

The Mini with all headlamps on full beam ... Is that behavior allowed in day light races - I find it to be very unfair to the driver holding the lead.

After all - the Mini is already fulling up all the guy's mirrors ..!

Yes it is. Drivers do it for just that reason - to distract the guy ahead of them.

Have know idea what's the name of that (in the lead) white funny looking face car but the driver in the Miin should use his blinkers too because the driver ahead doesn't seem to be distracted in the least bit.

Two wrongs don't make it right but in this situation ~ a quick brake check countermove (in the mix) would be an exciting one :D

That's a 'bugeye' Sprite Luke (MG/Austin/Morris), predecessor of the regular-faced MG Sprite, little brother to the MGB.

It's a Austin-Healet Bug-Eyed Sprite.

The MG version of the Sprite was known as the MG Midget.
