Hi Guys,
FRC will be open for practice, testing and racing from 7:30 PM this Thursday (25th August) for our Group A classes, Scalextric GT Challenge IROC - 6 races @ 20 laps, Restricted GT - 3 races @ 30 laps.
Remember that we try to start our events no later than 8:30PM sharp. Here's the usual schedule:
- Free practice and testing up to 8:30 PM
- 8:30 PM - Technical Inspection (excluding IROC classes).
- Qualifying followed by racing. Drivers not ready when called to grid will be replaced by any standby drivers who are ready.
- Post-race Technical Inspection (if required)
- After racing - Packing up and liming/old talk (but not too late!).
You can see the 2016 class regulations
here and the general racing regulations
here.
Don't forget to bring along some refreshments.

See you on the circuit...

Hello all,
Here's a (short) list of procedures I would like to put forward for the SGTC class as well as the other 3 - FRC
IROC MGT, MC and NSS classes eventually and if put into effect for these type of events.
Sure it will help speed up the process/completion of this exciting racing competition.
- No Practicing
No Qualifying
Grid Postions - roll dice or pull cards for all persons taking part/competing at this event.
No Maintenance - of any sort (with any individual car) by any driver during the event.
Any sort of maintenance could be done on all cars (at one time) if required.

Luke, I agree with your suggestions. The only mildly negative aspect is that we won't have info on fastest lap time for each IROC class, but that's not a big deal as far as I am concerned. We can make roll of dice the standard for IROC classes and occasionally make exceptions if we have the time and vote to qualify.

Thanks for agreeing Gordon (with this IROC idea) and with your suggested input and hopefully others, it will only improve this kind of racing entertainment going forward.

I would have no problem with this. Doing this may actually save enough time that we could consider (in the future) running another class in groups A and C , making these groups into 3-class ones.. I'm thinking along the lines of incorporating each class of group D (Mod.Prod. , F1) into groups A and C respectively. By doing this, we would reduce the number of groupings and therefore increase the frequency of each one being raced.

On paper (below) its looking like an excellent idea Steve but it may take some getting accustom too ...
- Mixed GT IROC / Scalextric GT Challenge IROC (alternating)
Restricted GT
Modified Production
Historic Saloon
Vintage Sports '60-'75
Slot.It Challenge
Mini Challenge IROC / Nissan GT-R Super Series IROC (alternating)
Rally Car
F1
American Muscle
GT
LMP
Here's what I mean with your suggested grouping (above) A, B, C & D where persons will be prepping 2, 3, 2 & 3 cars (every other week) compared to the present grouping A, B, C, D & E persons prepping 1, 3, 1, 2 & 3 cars.
Which I find is an easier timeline across the board.

Fellas,
Here's a reminder (sequence) of all the FRC
IROC classes and how they evolved through the years.
- 2009 ~ 1 IROC Event -- PC
2010 ~ 2 IROC Events - PC and LS
2011 ~ 3 IROC Events - PC, LS and FTC
2012 ~ 4 IROC Events - PC, LS, FTC and MC
2013 ~ 5 IROC Events - PC, LS, FTC, MC and NSS
2014 ~ 6 IROC Events - PC, LS, FTC, MC, NSS and SGTC
2015 ~ 4 IROC Events - MC, NSS, SGTC and then (intermix PC, LS & FTC) MGT
We know how they each carry great racing entertainment and below is the full list of procedures I am suggesting for the MGT, MC, NSS and SGTC events. Also agreeing that it will help speed up the process/completion of these exciting racing competitions.
- No Practicing
No Qualifying - but the occasional exception if there's time ...
Drivers Grid Postions - roll of dice if qualifying times are not set at these events.
No Maintenance - of any sort with any individual car (by any driver) during event.
No Testing - of any car's downforce in the MGT class.
No Changing - of cars in the MGT competition. One and only one car selection in each race.
Looking like it's
fair play across the board for all involved.
Any further thoughts,
Luke

Re Luke's post about the possible 4-group change which I suggested, I don't think that the prepping of 2,3,2,3 cars for groups A,B,C and D respectively would be such a large issue. In the past we used to race every week and as far as I can recall, there were 3 classes raced on most nights. The present 2 week interval between race meets is sufficient I think to work on cars for the upcoming event. I also feel that once a car is prepared initially, it would hardly need a total revamp between outings.
