RACE REPORT #211 - May 19th 2016 (MGT, RGT)

A night of GT racing started off a bit haphazardly with our Restricted GT races, as we had limited marshals and some overly-optimistic driving by some drivers, myself included. Despite the USD regulation change, Ramesh again showed why he is considered the best local slot car builder by totally dominating the class in a brand-new McLaren F1 GTR.

The Mixed GT racing was as challenging as ever, drivers being at pains to select their cars for each of the six races. In the end the class championship points were very, very close indeed. Here's what everyone was faced with when choosing their car for each race:

Congratulations to the winners.

Next event's classes: Group B: Historic Saloon - 3 races @ 25 laps, Vintage Sports '60-'75 - 3 races @ 25 laps. We would normally also race Slot.It Challenge with this group, however because the following event will be a Slot.It Challenge special event, we will not be racing this class. As usual, don't forget to see the updated fastest times for the FRC classes to know what the benchmarks are for your cars, the updated class average qualifying times and the updated fastest times for 2016.

See you on the circuit...
Gordon

Sorry to hear that Ram. I don't understand how the police can be so inconsiderate of the majority of legal road users just to apprehend a small number of wrongdoers. They need to do checks in such a way that this does not happen. It is not acceptable.

In any case we very much appreciate your attendance and in fact any time you and your guys aren't here, it's more like a practice session. So thanks again for the effort and sacrifice you make to ensure that we all have a great time (despite us being "also-rans" most of the time) :)

Great night of racing as usual at FRC. Thanks to Luke for getting all the Mixed GT cars running as well as they did. It was nice to see Marlon back in action and also to see some new machinery on the grid. Ram's McLaren F1 was the class of the pack in Restricted GT but O'Brie's Porsche 911 also ran very well (despite needing to get push-started at times). Luke's Viper performed credibly as did the other Bhola cars driven by Marlon and Gordon. Big thanks to Herman for assisting with marshaling .Congrats to Ram on winning Restricted GT and on the night's overall win.
Looking forward to the next event.
Steve

It was way AOK Steve and (as I told you) all because hearing nobody else offered ... I did what I did. Hence the reason I said to Gordon - No practicing allowed with any of these IROC cars (at this event) and feel its an exciting rule that should be carried out always at this event.

What do you think about that method?

Luke
