Hi Gordon,
your proposal looks okay to me, although the cycle is a 7 week one as opposed to my 6 week cycle suggestion.

Proposed new class groupings for 2014
Re: Proposed new class groupings for 2014
Having 2 classes means shorter racing nights with this right GG and maybe by 10:30pm too... If so, thats a good thing but...
So far we have come up with 4,6,7 & even 8 groupings - how about striking a happy medium with these 5 groups
A good mix of 2s, 3s an even a 4 groupings
A. HS, VS, G5SC & RC ........................ 4 classes
B. MC & Mixed "IROC" GT ...................2 classes
C. RGT, SC & F1 ................................. 3 classes
D. MP & NSS ...................................... 2 classes
E. AM, GT & LMP ................................ 3 classes
I must say that group C looks very neat & fast because these are the only 3 classes with 5 races X 35 laps and the cars are (more or less) doing 6 seconds lap times - The racing "tureover" time here shouldnt be so long (qualifying and racing just under 2 hours) for a great night's racing. Remember we've still got to keep the thrills in the racing... After all is said and done.
BTW- Im not forgetting you are the boss here okay

Re: Proposed new class groupings for 2014
Hi all , Gordon`s 2 class per night sounds good to me, the combination is nice, in this way new competitors will be encouraged, thanks Ramesh
Re: Proposed new class groupings for 2014
Hello Ramesh,
Personally with those 2 racing classes per night ~ it surely will take me awhile to latch onto because I have gotten so accustom to racing 3 classes per night @ FRC and if those 3 Open Modified (AM,GT & LMP) classes are broken up for this arrangement... I find its not making any sense at all and I am saying this now, so nobody have to guess later - I aint go be a happy racing/customer with that
Hindsight may/would have it ~ dont think anybody will enjoy racing one fully 40K rpm modified with one stock 18K rpm class (AM & F1) and then at a different event two fully modified (GT & LMP) classes... Maybe the new competitors will but quite sure not the regulars - as you may notice - me for one
I know FRC isnt about me alone but...
After all is said and done ~ I Racing @ FRC from its beginnings...

Re: Proposed new class groupings for 2014
Good morning Luke T , I see you started your response as personally , but you are not suppose to, its discussion in general so all can understand, lets deal with the three modified classes, although these races finish quickly the cars run hot a lot faster and the attrition is a lot higher, so by having two classes makes sense . I like your honesty in writing, by using the word accustom it shows that a habit was formed, therefore change becomes very challenging , but change is the only constant in life and your success depends on what you do , if you are given lemons make lemonade.Lets look at the ranges of speed as a personal challenge you must overcome, this range can only make good drivers become better ones so this adjustment is healthy ,and i dont think the 40k applies to all. Also aren`t we trying to get more people to come out ,and help them build cars for all classes ,so new racers must be encouraged in these classes also and help them get up to speed. if we want to see a 2nd generation of racers coming on board, having two races will surely give others the opportunity to grow , and this should be our goal for 2014. LukeT my response is not personal but general thanks Ramesh
Re: Proposed new class groupings for 2014
Guys, all I'm trying to accomplish here is two things:
Gordon
- Allow us to finish our events at a reasonable hour and while doing this...
- Not have to be rushing through the 5 or 6 races per class so that we can really enjoy our slot racing time at FRC events.

Re: Proposed new class groupings for 2014
BTW, I posted the above before reading Ramesh's post above mine.
Re: Proposed new class groupings for 2014
Hi guys,
I think that several of us are looking at things from our own perspectives but when looked at from Gordon's perspective, it makes sense to run fewer classes per event . When you think about it, several of us take the time in between classes to set up, try out or practice with our cars. If not, we are liming. Meanwhile Gordon is usually taking note of results, writing up the sheets for the next class and so on. He doesn't really get to participate in some of the non-race activities. The more relaxed nature of a 2 -class event would allow for this . I do like the idea of the unlimited classes (AM, GT and LMP) all on 1 night though .

Re: Proposed new class groupings for 2014
Ramesh, Gordon & Steve - I like you all (not gay here okay) and I will give of myself to help anyone of you. I was going to be silent about this (2 classes) topic you know but for whatever reason choose not to... Thats the nice thing bout life ent. Choice!
Okay back to the topic - a general response it is Ramesh plus Gordon with you finishing events at a reasonable hour (I agreed too as you may noticed) and Steve few of us looking at things from our own perspectives but yet you come back to my point (with not thinking of myself here) do like the idea of the unlimited classes (AM, GT and LMP) all on 1 night though...
BTW Ram wasnt it you (back in July) who asked to put RC class with Mini Challenge and not Ferrari Team Challenge for this same vise versa driving styles?
You know what, here is a simple solution to fix this issue - Lets try/run the AM & F1 classes together and see how it goes from there
Be that as it may - dont be surprise if Im not persent for this up & down racing event

Re: Proposed new class groupings for 2014
Guys,
Happened to be talking with Arden about this topic and we came up with this new ideal class groupings suggestion...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A. Mini "IROC" Challenge - Rally Car
B. Vintage Sports/50s - Historic Saloon/60s - G5SC/70s
C. Ferrari "IROC" Team Challenge - F1
D. Lambo "IROC" Series - Restricted GT
E. Porsche "IROC" Cup - Slot.It Challenge
F. AM - GT - LMP
G. Nissan GT-R "IROC" Super Series - Modified Production
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The new Mixed GT Race (from last event #152) could run off as a special (boyz) lime for whatever time we choose for all to enjoy.
We can even run this special Mixed GT Race at-will on any of these 5 IROC days
However, hope everyone is seening the bigger picture here with the 2 x 3 class groupings being separated in this way...
Looking at it again - its a Win Win for all, with 5 groups having 2 classes... out of the seven groupings
