RACE REPORT #305 - Feb 4th 2023 (CMnm, HSnm, MPnm, F1nm)

We had five drivers turn up for our second event of 2023. Joining me were O'Brie, Steve, Keith and Luke T to compete in our Clubman, Historic Saloon, Modified Production and Formula 1 classes.

During a long free practice session, the SSDC software had the brakes activated, making the cars rather difficult to drive smoothly, but strangely enough and all on its own, it totally removed brakes for all our subsequent qualifying and racing sessions. This made it a much more enjoyable and controllable experience, just like we had always had with the old powerbase.

Things are starting to get more streamlined now that we're getting to grips with the new powerbase and software, so we were actually able to run six races, despite starting at near 4:30 PM - two each for Clubman and Historic Saloon, and one each for Modified Production and F1 - and taking a few breaks for a drink, some snacks and the all-important "ole talk". We finished the final race at just around 6:30 PM.

All-in-all, it was a very enjoyable afternoon, despite Luke just staying for one race and Keith for three. But it was still a lot of fun, so let's see what attendance we get for our next event.

Clubman

Computer qualifying results (NOTE: For some reason my car had a fastest qualifying time of 0.002, so we used my last time of 9.894 as the official time. Also, I only realised when recording the times into the computer that Luke actually qualified in third but I set the grid incorrectly putting him behind Keith):

I mistakenly cleared the computer screen before taking a picture of the race 2 results, along with the fastest race times, so these are not available.

Great afternoon/evening as usual of racing at FRC.
It was very nice, after a few hiccups, to be able to drive in a normal manner , ie without the jerkiness and vicious brakes that have plagued us in recent times. The racing was really enjoyable and , in some cases, extremely tight. Some of the qualifying sessions indicate how close the performance of cars in certain classes are now. Although F1 has not in the past been among my favourite classes, I got a new Ferrari F310. The performance on its maiden outing was encouraging and I think that this acquisition will help me enjoy this class quite a bit more.
Congrats to Gordon on winning Modified Production, F1 and both Historic Saloon races as well as taking the event's overall victory.
Congrats also to .......nobody for taking Index Of Performance honours. I can't ever remember everyone finishing with exactly ZERO points before !!
Looking forward to the next event.

It's always a pleasure to be around you and rest of guys Gordon (in brief) at FRC plus thank you for your hospitality & donating your neatly super-tuned Mustang GT model to race in the Clubman class.

Before racing started ... was seeing a very complexed look on your face about software issue and glad it got sorted out (as you mentioned) later on same evening. Also, knew you weren't too happy to hear me say - heading out after first race and with that - saw that complexed look again, with you asking why I can't stay for the next race. Well, it's just me being that stay-at-home person I enjoy - especially in these times.

Basically, I had to see about my dog (Ava) because didn't get time to feed her earlier - which I normally do in the morning time. The (feeding dog) situation was on my mind during the evening and didn't want to go any later.

Anyways, back to the racing report & from your words / bright pics - looked like all the classes were a BLAST for you guys ..! That said, had to look over report in more detail / slower because didn't recognize there were 2 races each for CM and HS classes.

Of the 4 classes raced ...

F1 is & was always my best-loved, so much so have consistently kept a count of the 69 races (to date) raced and their respective WINNERS ..!

You, Steve and O'brie are the main contenders/challengers today and here's a link https://www.frcforum.com/viewtop ... p=543#p543 to that F1 score, I have been updating from ever since.

Sure, you and the others will have ah look 8-)
