RACE REPORT #293 - Nov 20th 2021 (CMnm, BTCCnm, GTnm)

We had the largest turnout at FRC since the the pandemic started, with seven drivers participating in some manner on Saturday's event. Steve, Luke T, O'Brie, Stan, Peter and Keith joined me for testing and tuning, with all but Luke staying on to do some racing. We ended up running one race each for Clubman, BTCC and GT, each of which was hotly contested. We dropped the idea tested at the previous event where the starting grid could be re-arranged based on qualifying priority driver choice and went back to the accepted method based solely on times.

Stan brought along a sample bottle of his excellent home-brewed cider which we all enjoyed tasting. Stan, you need a trade name now. I'm sure all who were present will agree that its ready for mass production!

The results

Clubman grid: Steve's Falcon on pole, followed by my NSU TT, O'Brie's Peugeot, Keith driving Steve's Bug, Peter Driving Steve's Datsun Skyline and Stan driving Steve's BMW 2002:

BTCC grid: Steve's BMW on pole, followed by my MG6, O'Brie's Civic, Keith driving Steve's BMW, Peter driving my Civic and Stanley's Civic:

Stan's Civic gets very sideways in turn one and Keith just manages to not t-bone him:

GT grid: Keith's lovely new BMW M1 takes pole for its debut race, followed by Steve's slick new Lotus Elise also in its debut race, then my Porsche 911R and Stan driving Steve's Peugeot:

Congratulations to the winners.

Next event's classes: To be announced, but will be the usual non-magnet cars across all eligible classes. I may in advance stipulate a few specific classes which we'll qualify and race.

Don't forget to see the updated overall fastest times and the fastest no-magnet times by driver and class to know what the benchmarks are for your cars. Older stats can be found in the Archive area of the forum.

See you on the circuit...

Great afternoon as usual at FRC. Was wondering to see such a good turnout. The lime and ole talk was sweet as usual, made even better with 'lubrication' provided by Stan's cider and Limp Oil ! Of course the reason we were there was to drive slotcars and this was as enjoyable as ever. Getting a few races in made it even better ! Was also fantastic to see some newly raced cars in GT class as well: Keith's new BMW M1 ran well and is showing real potential. Gordon's newly non-magnet configured Porsche 911 was a great runner and showed how well it can go by winning its first non-magnet race. My Lotus Elise was also very fast . In other classes, it was a pity that O'Brie 's Mk1 Escort had a chip issue in Clubman class but thankfully he had backups to use. In BTCC, was nice to see Stan's Civic again. This car has improved but could use some development. I'd be very willing to help in this regard . Luke's Mod-Prod. Cosworth Sierra was definitely much improved but we didn't race that class.
Congrats to Gordon on winning all three races run !
PS Gordon, can you please post results for BTCC ?
