FRC Session Report, Saturday 5th December 2020

Post by gordon »

Steve, Keith, O'Brie and Peter joined me at FRC for our final 2020 COVID session at FRC. We ran the usual magless cars, Kitbash, Clubman and BTCC (no magnet) and had a great deal of fun, as always.

Kitbash qualifying results (previous session q-times in brackets):

1st 9.070 sec (9.079) - Steve, Ford Cosworth Sierra
2nd 9.242 sec (9.213) - O'Brie, Peugeot 205
3rd 9.565 sec (9.445) - Gordon, NSU TT
4th 9.793 sec (*) - Peter, Nissan Skyline
5th 10.277 sec (9.947) - Keith, Chevy Lumina

Steve's Sierra was totally dominant, winning all three races. But there was still a lot of close action like this dice between O'Brie's Peugeot and my NSU:

We really had fun at this final 2020 session, with jokes passing, a social break with some beers (or "Linseed Oil" in Peter's case) and lots of stress relieving smiles during and in between the practice runs and the races. Looking forward to our first 2021 session and a time when we can all - north and south guys - get together at future FRC events.

Great evening of racing at FRC. I really love these classes and even though the lap times are slow (or possibly because of it), these little cars have become some of my favourites. A great time was had by all, both on and off the race track. Don't think we've laughed so hard at a race meeting in a long time ! By the way, I really like the photo of the Clubman starting grid. I think that O'Brie's Mini looks particularly menacing in its black and yellow livery.
Looking forward to the next event.
Have a Happy and Safe New Year !!

Hello Gordon,

You guys have surely made the best of slot car racing in 2020 ..!

The monthly racing sessions with the different classes, have progress very well indeed and to a point ...
  • I (personally) feel like I don't have a clue how to chip a slot car again
In other words - it's as if I need to start from the beginning (in 2009) with Digital tuning.

Nonetheless - your reporting is still spot-on with the entertainment you'll create.

Plus, like how you finished with your report ...
  • Looking forward to our first 2021 session and a time when we can all - north and south guys - get together at future FRC events.
Which I agree with ...
