Guys, sorry about this but there has to be a change of plans with regards to when we'll be having the first FRC event since the lockdown. In fact this is going to be an ongoing change of our long-standing day and time for events, Thursday evenings. Let me explain.
Since before COVID, Ram and Arden have been concerned about having to drive back south late at night after our Thursday events. With the advent of COVID restrictions and now the recent unrest in the country, this has become significantly more of a concern. Today Ram and I had a phone conversation about this and we feel that the better day and time to race is on Saturdays from about 1 PM to no later than 6 PM, so this is the direction we'll be going in.
Our upcoming event for next week Thursday will therefore be postponed to a Saturday. The first open Saturday at present is the 18th July, so we have an extra nine days to work on our cars from the previously set date of July 9th (next Thursday).
I hope that this significant change to our racing day and time will result in more pros than cons for everyone. There will of course be Saturdays that will have to be re-scheduled from time to time and we will not always be able to race every two weeks, but that sometimes happens for our Thursday events as well.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Change of upcoming race date
Re: Change of upcoming race date
Hi all,
I think that the change in the normal racing schedule from a Thursday night to a Saturday afternoon is workable and I'd be very willing to go along with this. Who knows, maybe this change might encourage some previous FRC racers to return.
As far as the first post-lockdown event goes, Gordon had originally floated the idea of having a sort of informal testing day and the date was to be the 9th July. We then sort of decided to include some racing on this date as well. I for one am very anxious to return to some (any !!) form of action at FRC and find that the new date of Saturday 18th July for the first event just seems so far away, especially after no action for so long and then having our racing appetites whet by the 9th July date. What I would like to propose is that if Ram and Arden cannot make it on Thursday 9th, we have the first actual race meeting on Saturday 18th but go ahead with the test session as originally planned on Thursday 9th. Whoever can make it can come and stay until whatever time they feel it is safe for them. I will commit to stay until the end to help with the packing up.
