RACE REPORT #285 - Mar 5th 2020 (KB, RC, BTCC, SC)
We had a nice turnout of eleven drivers for our Kitbash (KB), Rally Car (RC), BTCC and Slot.It Challenge (SC) classes. Unfortunately Anthony and son Seth had to leave just before starting the official proceedings. We managed to save some time by doing minimal tech checks before starting the competition, leaving detailed checking only for the class winning cars. We ended up running the rally stages first (three stages), followed by three BTCC races and a single race each for SC and KB.
Luke B was in a class of his own in the rally, winning all three stages by a significant margin. He didn't fare as well in BTCC but picked it up again in SC. In KB, Steve surprised everyone (including himself, it appeared) when he got below the 9 sec mark by quite a bit with the inaugural running of his Mustang GT 350 in the class. Because of the number of entries in BTCC, we ran two heats based on alternating qualifying times, followed by a full-grid final of the first three finishers in each heat.
It was a full night of testing, practice and competition that was enjoyed by all.
Practice
Warren had a few moments coming to grips with his Slot.It Challenge Porsche 956 during practice:

Steve's extremely quick Mustang GT 350 outqualified everyone - setting a new Kitbash lap record - and is followed by O'Brie's fast Peugeot 205, Ramesh's Porsche 911 Carrera, my Triumph TR4A, Arden in another Bhola 911 Carrera and Warren in the third Bhola Porsche, a 911S:
Ramesh's Porsche leasd as O'Brie's Peugeot crashes. In the background, Steve's Mustang is closely followed up the hill by Arden and Warren's Porsches:
Carousel action with Arden's Porsche and my Triumph tangling while Warren and Steve get on the brakes behind. Meanwhile Ramesh's Porsche goes by in the foreground clear ahead of the field:
O'Brie's Peugeot climbs the hill and gets a good view of my Triumph, Warren's Porsche and Ramesh's Porsche doing acrobatics with the guard rail:

Re: Race report #285 - Thursday Mar 5th 2020 (KB, RC, BTCC, SC)
Great night as usual of racing at FRC ! This was possibly the best driver turnout in a while, despite Anthony and Seth unfortunately having to leave early which left nine drivers actually taking part in the racing.
These classes are among my favourites and I really enjoyed them although my race results don't really mirror this. I was very pleased with the performance of all of my cars, especially the kitbash Mustang GT 350 with its newly fitted 14k rpm motor. The times of the top rally cars continue to impress. Luke B's fifteen laps (three stages of five laps each) were ALL under eight seconds. In terms of the BTCC experimental class rules for this event, my feeling is that we should retain the existing rules for downforce (the Modified USD or 45 deg.rule). Despite the fairly large turnout of drivers, we were still able to finish racing at a reasonable hour. A second race in both Kitbash and Slot.it Challenge would have been nice.
Congrats to Gordon on winning BTCC, Ram on winning Kitbash and Luke B. on winning Rally and Slot.it Challenge. Congrats also to Luke B. on taking the night's overall victory and to Gordon on the Index Of Performance honours.
Looking forward to the next event.

I for one had a great time!!! Thanks to all! The competition was great and I enjoyed the improvement in my cars. I have a lot of work to do in the rally class if Luke is any yard stick! Congrats Luke!
I do have to agree with Steve 45^ for BTCC is my advice.
