Guys, allowing motors over 18K in the Scalextric cars might be a problem. I just went through the FRC F1 qualifying times from day one. Here's the first page, sorted by fastest times in descending order:
The highlighted cars are all Scalextric and the second fastest time ever recorded in F1 is a Jordan running an 18K FC-130 motor. That was way back in 2014. In my case, the fastest time I've ever done in F1 was at our recent F1 event in July and this is with my 3D car with the high-torque Scaleauto 18K motor and all the other good stuff (gears, wheels, tyres, etc). I know I'm not the greatest car builder, but I don't think I'll stand a chance against a well-built Scalextric car running an FC-130 motor that is over 18K.
To me, this indicates that the Scalextric cars are more than quick enough with 18K motors, whether FF or FC-130.
Allowing FC-130 motors up to 21.5K in F1

Hi Gordon i do agree with you on the 21.5 being too quick how about us trying the 20k . FC.130. THANKS
Re: Allowing FC-130 motors up to 21.5K in F1
RAM, that would include motors like the Scaleauto SC08b which my Zakspeed Capri has. An F1 car with that motor will be very, very quick. I think we should leave all cars at 18K.

Ah boy Arden look de police reach. I agree with keeping it at 18k across the board they are already fast at 4.+ sec !!!

I was not around in those days so if the 21k was allowed and the times match then I don’t see a problem but if the 18k has done it in the past then I have a problem with increasing it.. Admin to determine what rpm matched what times through the years. May be Luke T may have some insight in to that statistic.

Arden is right. This post confirms it:

Re: Allowing FC-130 motors up to 21.5K in F1
Gordon,
My Jordan was a slot it 21k, the faster motor in the 18k was the ff and the fastest time for that motor was 4.9.
The ff normal time 5.0 - 5.2. If you run the 18k ff or the 18k fc after 35 laps they are dead slow. The fc 21k is a good balance.
If not I will have to go to the appeal court.
