Race report #250 - Thursday Apr 26th 2018 (MP, RGT, RLMP)

RACE REPORT #250 - April 26th 2018 (MP, RGT, RLMP)

A small group of five regulars turned out for our fastest classes, Modified Production (MP), Restricted GT (RGT) and Restricted LMP (RLMP). Spectating were Peter and visitor Dennoy, an analog racer who was witnessing digital racing for the first time. Racing was close amongst groups of cars within the races in all classes and fun was had by everyone. A new all-time MP lap record was set by Ramesh's Alfa Romeo 156, so it seems that the cars are getting faster and faster despite more restrictions being placed on their specs.

Modified Production starting grid. Ramesh's all-time lap record-setting Alfa Romeo 156 sits on pole ahead of my Zakspeed Capri, O'Brie's BMW 320i, Peter's Zakspeed Escort Mk II driven by Steve and Ramesh's Opel Calibra driven by Luke:

Restricted GT starting grid. O'Brie did some magic with his Porsche 911R to put it on pole, followed by Ramesh's brand new BMW Z4, Steve's Audi R8 GT3, Ramesh's Porsche 911 GT1 driven by Luke and my Viper:

We unfortunately did not get a picture of the Restricted LMP starting grid.

Congratulations to the winners!

Next event's classes: Class grouping A - Historic Saloon (HS), American Pony Car (APC), Vintage Sports '60-'75 (VS6075).

Don't forget to see the updated overall fastest times and the fastest times by driver and class for 2018 to know what the benchmarks are for your cars, the updated class average qualifying times and the updated fastest times for 2018.

See you on the circuit...

Great night of racing as usual at FRC. I always enjoy the appearance of new racing machines and seeing Ram's BMW Z4 in Restricted GT was nice. Other highlights of the evening were Luke showing up with his stable of cars and the the performance of O'Brie's Mod.Prod. BMW 320i and Restricted GT Porsche 911.
Congrats to Ram on winning all classes raced and, naturally, taking the night's overall winning points. Congrats also to Luke on taking the Index Of Performance honours.
On a nitpicking note, looking at the photo of the Mod. Prod. cars, I see that Ram's car was described in the results as an Opel Calibra. This car is in fact an Alfa Romeo 156. In the Cars And Drivers lineup, Luke is listed as driving an Opel Calibra in Restricted GT but he in fact drove a Porsche 911 GT1. The car race results however, show the GT1. In Mod. Prod. , the owner of the Zakspeed Escort I drove was Peter.
Looking forward to the next event.

Hello Ramesh,

About your RGT car ...

By chance did you consider setting up your car with the PCR chassis ..?

Checkout the link below:
You won’t believe your eyes the time set (10.09 sec.) with a Scalextric BMW Z4 GT3 / PCR Chassis “No Magnet” configurations and raced on a huge track layout similar to yours ..!

Thanks for pointing out my errors Steve. Its not nitpicking at all because we have to get things right, so they've now been corrected. Race nights are really hectic for me, so I sometimes don't get everything right (I need to delegate some of the tasks to others).

Hi Gordon,
re delegation of tasks on race night, I'd be willing to assist but doubt I'd be able to get there any earlier than I do now.
