RACE REPORT #239 - September 7th 2017 (MP, RGT, RLMP)

Last night was our current "fast car" night featuring FRC's Modified Production (MP), Restricted GT (RGT) and Restricted LMP (RLMP) classes and well, these "restricted" cars are starting to go really fast now. Five racers drove a total of eighteen cars over two hundred and twenty-five laps of high-speed competition. But even before the racing for each class got started, qualifying saw some pretty fast times with Ramesh achieving the quickest of the night with a 4.616 sec lap in RLMP, a new class lap record. One noticeable thing in all three classes is that the fields have tightened up considerably which means that guys are trying harder when prepping their cars. The gap in times between pole and the last (5th) qualifier was 0.735 sec in MP, 0.529 sec in RLMP and just 0.323 in RGT! The resultant racing was very close indeed.

A crowded paddock and this was before the south boys arrived:

There was some extremely close slipstreaming in the RLMP races. Here O'Brie's Porsche is almost touching Arden's Mazda:

This time, Arden returns the favour on O'Brie at the same spot on the track:

Then Steve's Lola-Aston got right up even closer on Arden's Mazda:

Congratulations to the winners!

Next event's classes: Class grouping A - Historic Saloon (HS), American Pony Car (APC), Vintage Sports '60-'75 (VS6075).

As usual, don't forget to see the updated fastest times for the FRC classes to know what the benchmarks are for your cars, the updated class average qualifying times and the updated fastest times for 2017.

See you on the circuit...

Great night of racing as usual at FRC. Results -wise, not a good event for me, particularly in Restricted GT, where early qualifying performance was transformed into three last places for the actual races. Was pleasantly surprised at the performance of the Lola B09/60 in Restricted LMP however. Was nice to see Arden for the second event in a row. Congrats to Gordon on taking pole position and winning Restricted GT and to Ramesh on winning everything else.
Looking forward to the next event.

Great Fun!!!
Guys I will be in Panama City from 30th Sep to Thursday 5th Oct.
Don't think I will make it to that evenings/nights racing!
I will be at the meeting on the 21st though.

Sorry

Enjoy Panama O'Brie. Went there a few years ago. The canal is a very interesting visit. I wouldn't be averse to postponing the racing until your return.
