Hi guys , it was a very good night of racing , i especially enjoyed the GT race , congrats to Gordon on his win , as we can see he did a great job on building his new Porsche. I was happy to see Brent getting his feet wet , thanks to Steve and Obrie for making the races exciting especially Steve `s LMP working a lot better. I know Luke T and Obrie had some car trouble but i know you will get it going soon. Looking foward to our next event. bye Ram.

Great night of racing as usual at FRC. Nice to see Brent and Dougie coming back to racing and building cars to race. Good also to see Luke bringing competitive cars to race. O'Brie seemed to have had a problem with his GT car but was very competitive in LMP and was fun to race against.Congrats to Ramesh on his F1 , LMP and overall victories and to Ramesh and Gordon on the joint GT victory. Lovely to see that Gordon's wins were with his new, Kyle-replica Porsche 911.

The LMP (crash) pic looks so cool and for a 132 scale - its a very true like looking view but have to mention l couldn't even remember this incident happening because guessing (only just realized) I wasn't present ... Usually I stay the whole event but didn't hang around for the LMP class and the ole talk/drink afterwards. Now in these 2 classes GT and LMP which I didn't compete in ~ I did have cars chipped to race but the magnet setup in both cars wasn't in sync with car's high RPM motor ... and had a feeling the gearing wasn't as well
Favorable Porsche 911 GT champ Gordon, offered to have a look at my Corvette GT car but had to tell him thanks & not to bother because it would use up valuable time trying anything else.
Now just before I left the night's event and while packing up - Grand LMP champ Ramesh, happened to have a look at my Audi LMP car and in a heart beat, said the car is a pretty nice looking one but there is no space for magnet positions. I kind of knew that purchasing it (back done) but for some reason still bought it anyway ... Maybe because of how nice it looked and special low price plus getting the chance to view the underside and hopefully try some sort of magnet setup tweak.
Strange enough Ram was even talking about this before, when viewing a slotcar online and not having a chance to view the underside (chassis) is such a drag and drop decision purchasing any slotcar ...
Anyway - at this point and at other racing events gone by in 2017. I am realizing (more so now) how far behind I am with fine tuning slotcars to try and be competive with other enthusiastic racing guys present at events. It's a feeling somewhat like the tech world happenings ... late without data!
That said, dont think anyone should be surprIsed (or even mind) with the 4 racing groups - A, B, C & D - that I just race in the A and C groupings ... the ones with the IROC Classes.
Some may think it's taking the easy way out but to me - it's like retiring from one and specializing in another
Somewhat lengthy thoughts but hope the read was enjoyable,

Great night in spite of not fielding much of a challenge. My GT frayed the chip just before the races started and The LMP went down hill fast with excessive power loss. Next time! Looking forward to next meet.

Some things that happened on race night and thought I could point out ...
In the F1 races, we had some keen and clean racing ... Enjoyed some good racing (lap after lap) alongside your car with Ramesh trying to get pass and Steve's car adding to the excitement.
Even Bethany (on her own while looking at the results) mentioned - how come in the 3 F1 races the names stayed the same
Also in that F1 race with Ramesh's winning (and remembering when he asked me what's the name of the car being raced) Willams BMW livery ...
Interestingly enough - also noting how that F1 slotcar represent the days - way back (2005/06) when Nico Rosberg and Mark Webber were team mates. Yet, not too sure if that special slotcar is the replica of the reigning F1WC ... I may stand corrected
Now seeing how I wasn't in the field of the LMP cars ... Wondering what could have happened to your car in the first race because even though seeing LMP car on the grid (providing correct lineup - first pic) yet not seeing points for you on the scoresheet in the first race ..

When I placed the car on the track and the motor briefly got power, I realised that the gears weren't meshing properly. On testing a standing start the crown gear was definitely damaged, so I had to withdraw the car for that race. However - this is a good example of what I meant - realizing (more so now) how far behind I am with fine tuning slotcars to try and be competive with other enthusiastic racing guys - because (if it was me) I would have simply answered - the car just didn't work well for some reason.
Isn't going to happen Gordon ... because here's my descriptive description of the only challenge and closest difference in the F1 class ~ me pushing in the third race and possibly pulling off a second spot but because of your constant pursuit and gaining ground rapidly in the last 6 laps @ 5 seconds a lap which equals half a minute - under such quick pressure ...gordon wrote:Yes, based on the info in result sheets, that's how they placed. I crashed in the last sector and you kept your third and consecutive 2nd. spot and luckily I still my 3rd. spot
In other words - glad for the race but the fine tuning - I guess not
