RACE REPORT #225 - January 19th 2017 (MGT, MP, RGT)

A great season opener for 2017 saw eleven guys turn up of which eight took part in the on-track competition. Because of time constraints the Mixed GT cars were never raced but there was a lot of action amongst the eight drivers in Modified Production (MP) and Restricted GT (RGT).

Instead of breaking the classes in the the old A and B format, we ran heats where qualifiers 1, 3, 5 and 7 raced in three heat 1 races and qualifiers 2, 4, 6 and 8 raced in three heat 2 races. We then ran a single final in MP for the highest placed six drivers in the heats and did the same for RGT, except that we ran three final races for a total of ten action-filled races for the night.

Congratulations to the winners and a big thank you to Anthony, Keith and Alex for the help marshalling.

Next event's classes: Class grouping B - Historic Saloon (3 races), American Pony Car (3 races), Vintage Sports '60-'75 (3 races).

As usual, don't forget to see the updated fastest times for the FRC classes to know what the benchmarks are for your cars, the updated class average qualifying times and the updated fastest times for 2017.

See you on the circuit...

Great night of racing at FRC.
It was wonderful, for the first event of 2017, to see such a good turnout of drivers and non-drivers. The racing was good fun as always, particularly so due to the interesting mix of cars raced, including some new machines. The lime and ole talk were also enjoyable. Let's hope we have similar levels of participation for the rest of the year !
Congrats to Ramesh on winning both classes raced and to O'Brie on his Index Of Performance award.
One small note on car ownership: The Capri raced by Peter is owned by him and the Audi R8 raced by me is owned by Jonathan.
Looking forward to the next event.

Yes to a GR8 night of racing but must mention (getting off my chest here) how I had more than one situation of level frustration with unbelievable marshaling  :?

Next time around - I will make sure keeping it all in the slot :P

Hi all a pleasant day to all slot car guys . It was a great season opening event for me, just because i have to work out the car set up in theory, and dont really know how they will perform, thats why i always try a couple of combinations to see what works best, i have just noted performances of the cars and stored them away with adjustments notes for next time.I am saying this to let you guys know how much i appreciate FRC for giving me an opportunity to do what i love to do thanks. Thanks also to all the guys who came out to race and assisted in marshalling, you attendance was appreciated. Looking foward to our next event.
