Great night of racing as usual at FRC, made even better by the attendance of old FRC hand Boo . Was nice to see Boo's old faithful 'Got Milk' Escort on the track again. It was fun racing these Historic Saloon cars in the present configuration for the last scheduled time at FRC. I finally got my Escort Mk 2 working well enough to actually race it (even getting pole position) and am thankful to be able to do so before the regs. change . The Slot.it Challenge and Vintage Sport classes were also very keenly contested.In Slot.it, the Nissan 89C seems to be the emerging car of choice meanwhile in Vintage Sport, the Alfa Romeo 33/3s raced by Boo and myself didn't seem to have the pace to match the rest of the field. Boo's cars showed great potential but also displayed some of the ill effects of lack of use ! We need to see them (and you Boo) in action more frequently !
Also great to see Dion (and other slot car pardner) show up with some cars. It is encouraging to see Dion working on his cars and bringing them to race. With a little more fine tuning in line with the regulations, I think that he will do very well. These two guys also did a great job at marshaling.
Congrats to Ramesh on winning all classes raced as well as taking Champion Driver of the night accolades and also Index Of Performance honours.
Looking forward to the next event .

Its always good racing a very enjoyable evening. well done to all competitors its good to see Luke t on the podium, thanks to Gordon for hosting us again we do not take this for granted as we left your home after 1 am in rain thanks again , lets make slot car racing great again.

Thanks for the link Gordon,

You provided such well informed and structured info and (if its okay) mentioning a few things I thought about ...

It is a good bit of details ... for just 1 hour of (RD224) racing but referring to you - the beginning is a significant part of the event.

Also, after qualifying in these 3 classes (RR223) with 3 "neatly tuned" cars that was provided to me (listed below) by another kindly racer like yourself - with 5 & 6 seconds lap times ...

• 1. HS / Ford Escort 6.8 seconds = Podium
  2. SC / Toyota 88C 6.0 seconds = Podium
  3. VS6075 / McLaren M8D 5.5 seconds = Podium

As strange as this is - means this kindly racer (to be exact - Ramesh) may have to untune/tune slot cars for 7 & 8 seconds lap times to compete in the group C & D races

Luke, I'm sure Ramesh has cars that can fit into almost any time bracket amongst his collection.

Again, the nice thing with this event is that we can race cars that we would normally not race because of their being uncompetitive for our regular classes. I for one would like to run several cars in qualifying that have not been on the track in a long time.

As mentioned, qualifying will be a major part - and time slot - of this event. For example, if each person brings just 4 cars and we have a turnout of 8 drivers, that's 32 cars to qualify. Averaging 6 sec per lap by 4 laps for each qualifying run - approx. 30 sec - plus another 30 sec to switch driver/car, that's at least 32 minutes for qualifying With the usual driver/car delays it could be easily twice that. I for one will likely qualify 8-10 cars, so if we end up with more cars per driver, the time increases.

Regarding the races themselves, despite it being calculated as one hour of actual racing, races will likely go over that by a few minutes. There will be also be time gaps between races for socialising, drinking, eating, etc.

We don't need to rush through the evening.

Also noticing there's eight (8) days to go till Sat. 3rd. December ... I am sure you (and others including myself) might be wondering what "head count" of drivers will turnout at your FRC end of year event ..? Are you by chance thinking on doing any sort of "Will you be Attending" poll on the forum or any other idea for what amount of persons/drivers will be present?

If you don't mind ... Here's a list (I came up with) of known persons racing at FRC events ... and just a simple matter of getting confirmation from each other, who will be present.
