Racing this Thursday (3rd November)

Hi Guys,

FRC will be open for practice, testing and racing from 7:30 PM this Thursday (3rd November) for our Group A classes, Mixed GT IROC - 6 races @ 20 laps, Restricted GT - 3 races @ 30 laps.

Remember that we try to start our events no later than 8:30PM sharp. Here's the usual schedule:

• Free practice and testing up to 8:30 PM
• 8:30 PM - Technical Inspection (excluding IROC classes).
• Qualifying followed by racing. Drivers not ready when called to grid will be replaced by any standby drivers who are ready.
• Post-race Technical Inspection (if required)
• After racing - Packing up and liming/old talk (but not too late!).

Hello Gordon and everyone else,

How you'll going and have a feeling everyone was very busy with their circle of life?

All the same - thought of this and (would have happened at sometime but) it's much sooner than later ... Which could also be added to the (FRC IROC Competition) Regs under a procedure (3rd. line) section.

It's concerning the MGT (group of 18 cars) racing process and the order in which (less than or more than 6) drivers go about selecting their 6 cars with their scheduled races.

Check this interpretation:

• Procedure (MGT F430s, 997s and Lambos cars):
  Each controller driver has a choice of each type of car. However, each category of these (6 x F430s, 997s & Lambos) cars could only be driven twice (2 x F430s, 997s & Lambos) in any order of a driver's scheduled 6 races. Also, just how the (less than or more than 6) drivers draws the lowest number drives the first race from driver station 1, next lowest number from driver station 2, and so on.
  
  The driver drawing the lowest number also gets to make his car selection first ~ next lowest will be after, and so on.

Sounding like once read - one should understand the method with everyone trying different strategies.

This should be helpful on the IROC regs rather than spoken communication every time this event is done and sure adjustments can be made - if needed.

One more point Gordon - You may remember I sent you this topic (awhile now) as an email and somehow with no reply. Figured you must have been very busy and forgot about with all your other many emails (you told me) you receive daily.

So seeing how the forum was very quiet for some days now ... posted topic here for all to have a say

Yes, I've been very busy at work, mostly dealing with issues rising out of that unfair new online purchase tax which is being applied to ALL air freight by customs, despite it being an end-user tax. Losing money with each new shipment.

Well that doesn't have anything to do with FRC, so moving on, I understand what you're saying. Basically for each race, cars are to be chosen by drivers in order, starting from the driver at station 1.

Simple enough to understand and implement and I have no problem with it.

You made me remember telling my employer and a co-worker last year (around same time) in an office discussion, that things were only going to get harder and today they themselves are seeing I was ... polictically correct even though they seem to be playing they aren't bothered.

Anyway - it is what it is for now and getting back to FRC ...

Simple enough to understand and implement and I have no problem with it.

You being in charge of FRC and with such a worded response (above) as first replier. Seems to be already in agreement for others and for sure, whatever amount of drivers taking part - everyone will be happy to takeaway these suitable written procedures when racing in the "hit it big" MGT event.

Hello all,

I researched the second pic (for fun) knowing it's a Porsche motorcar and came across this vivid description of that 911/80s model car.

Here it is below:

Germany's holy roller, the fastest factory fresh, finger in the socket, load and cock it full time pocket rocket. It is the evil weevil, the rock solid, steely eyed grim reaper of sporting cars, the para­gon of knife edged incisiveness and buttoned down insanity. More than any other factory fresh passenger car available here today, the Porsche 911 Carrera is the abso­lute embodiment of clench jawed, tight­ fisted, slit eyed enthusiasm run amok, a car for making the landscape pass with explosive fluidity. Strange that a car so serious can bring such unadulterated joy, but there you are, sporting an enormous, cheek splitting leer when you unstrap and step out ...

It is a very worldly write up which sounds (to a great degree) enjoyable and exciting just reading - far less to have really driven a Porsche 911 high-performance vehicle ..!

There was also something a bit eerie about the pic and this write up - when I noticed in the background (rightside) there's an outline of a sinister looking cloaked person with a long stick at the side.

A sight like that must have made that racing driver absolutely terrified ...

Just thought I could share.

Luke you not playing you're observant boy. I didn't notice that figure (statue?) before you mentioned it. Interesting read-up you did too. Did it say what circuit this is?

To answer your question ~ I only researched the car ...

That lively description of the Porsche 911 was at the very beginning of the page and so happened to be the only part I read. The words - steely eyed grim reaper of sporting cars - I remembered observing a figured something looking like that in the same 911 photo and found it to be such a strange thing - that I just had to share.

See you and others tomorrow plus I'll remember to bring the display board (for 18 cars) and the extra 997 chassis/rear axle Arden donated to FRC.
