Second regulation change proposal

Post by gordon »

I had mentioned that there were two other regulation changes that I wanted to suggest. The first is the introduction of the GP Formula class. Here is the second:

Combine Vintage Sports and Group 5 Sports cars into a single class called Vintage Sports '60-'75 (or whatever) with the following basic requirements:

Vintage Sports '60-'75
For slot models of racing sports and prototype cars from the 1960 to 1975
  • Body: See Eligible Cars below (we will combine the current VS and G5SC lists). Body must comply with General item 2. Windows may not be tinted - interior must be visible.
  • Chassis: Standard for the particular model.
  • Interior: Full interior as standard for the particular model, however this may be altered if necessary, but only to the extent required to install digital chip. Must comply with General item 3.
  • Digital Chip: Scalextric brand only (or we can leave this free)
  • Motor: Up to 21.5K.
  • Gearing: Motor and axle gears may be changed.
  • Motor Pod (where applicable): Standard for the particular model.
  • Magnets: Must be positioned in one of the standard magnet locations for the particular model. Car must not be able to magnetically adhere to a standard Scalextric track piece in an upside down position. Stacking allowed.
  • Wheels: Standard for the particular model.
  • Axles: Standard for the particular model.
  • Tyres: Free but must fit standard wheels.
  • Guide Flag: Free.
With regards to Class Groupings for next year, this is what I'm proposing:
  1. Mixed GT IROC / Scalextric GT Challenge IROC (alternating) - 6 races @ 20 laps, Restricted GT - 3 races @ 30 laps (210 laps total)
  2. Historic Saloon - 3 races @ 25 laps, Vintage Sports '60-'75 - 3 races @ 25 laps, Slot.It Challenge - 3 races @ 25 laps (225 laps total)
  3. Mini Challenge IROC / Nissan GT-R Super Series IROC (alternating) - 6 races @ 20 laps, Rally Car - 3 five-lap stages per car, 1 car at a time (90 laps for 6 cars) (210 laps total)
  4. Modified Production - 3 races @ 30 laps, F1 - 3 races @ 30 laps, GP Formula, 3 races @ 30 laps (270 laps total)
  5. American Muscle - 3 races @ 30 laps, GT - 3 races @ 30 laps, LMP - 3 races @ 30 laps (270 laps total)
This way we reduce our cycle by one.

Gordon,

With regards the Vintage and G5 I will go with the majority. I am actually getting my G5 car tomorrow.
Not in favor of the UDR.

I like the idea of reducing the cycle by one and would be in favour of combining these two classes as suggested. I would suggest leaving the chip free however, as I suspect that several of the Group 5 cars run the Slot.it chip now and with the lower motor limit (21.5k rpm vs previous 25k allowed in Gr. 5) as well as lower downforce (due to the UDR), cars fitted with this chip should have no advantage over those that don't.

GG,

Regards to your Class Groupings proposal for next year ...
  • MGT IROC / SGTC IROC (alternating) - RGT
    HS - VS+G5 - SC
MC IROC / NSS IROC (alternating) - RC
    MP - F1 - GP Formula
    AM - GT - LMP
Don't think it can get any finer than that :!:

Its well thought out and any better ~ will be from God above :D
