Hi Guys,
Between Luke calling to excuse himself from attending and Kyle celebrating his birthday "on the town" with friends, we had a small turnout of just six drivers for our fastest classes - American Muscle, GT and LMP. Based on my posting of alternative race groupings and sequences and the fact that things tend to run later than many would like, I had planned to start qualifying at 8:00 PM sharp. I made a concession so that ice and Alex's drinks could be organised, but we nevertheless got things going before 8:30 PM. As specified in the new race groupings, all races for these fast classes were set to 40 Laps, 10 more than the norm.
American Muscle just had four entries and Dougie once again dominated, getting pole and winning all races for a perfect score of 28 points. In GT a concession was made to allow Brent to race a nicely modified Ford Escort. Our class structure generally defines this car body as an Historic Saloon (which must remain basically stock) and our GT class rules use the broad phrase "Body must be modeled after a car which competes in GT racing", so technically this Escort doesn't currently have an FRC class (except Formula Libre). Racing in GT was very close, with Alex and I finishing 2-tenths of a second, 3-tenths of a second and 1 second apart in the three races! Like the Dougie-fest in American Muscle, LMP was a Brent-fest, with him convincingly winning all three races, though he missed the perfect score by the 1 pole position point because he attempted to qualify his Jaguar without a chip installed and was therefore a qualifying non-starter.
Because of the early start and low number of entries, we finished before 11:00 PM, although this didn't stop Laird, Boo and I from liming and talking racing till minutes to 1:00 AM.
Congratulations to the class championship winners and Brent for his Index of Performance win.
Next event's classes: Restricted GT, Slot-It Challenge, F1 - see the regulations here. IMPORTANT: Also see this post again so that you are aware of what motors will be allowed in F1.
See you on the circuit...

Race report #71 - Thursday 24th March, 2011

Gordon,
You and the guys looked like you had a blast at racing... Thats Great and sorry I missed out.
A happy belated birthday Kyle and congrats to all winners.
GG, noticed you raced your new ford mustang too and did well against the camaros. Well done.
I would like to make a suggestion ~ providing FRC will be open for racing next week and Wednesday being a holiday that we race on the Tuesday night.

I actually raced my Revell-Monogram Mustang GT 350, not the new Pioneer Mustang.
I have no problem with Tuesday, however I did promise Shane we'd race on Wednesday, but this was before I realized that Wednesday was a holiday. What about all you other FRC racers? When do you want to race next week?

Gordon,
Shane probably didn't realized that Wednesday is a holiday too and sure he will come on Tuesday instead. I talked to Pabs & Boo already and they cool with Tuesday.
Sorry bout the mustang mix up... Now remembered your Pioneer Mustang is for a new class.
I see your boy L.Hamilton split the 2 F1 RedBulls in the Australian GP Qualifying early this morning.
This F1 season looking great already. I like the new adjustable rear wing feature ~ Down Force & Speed like that... all in one..!
Going and work on my 1/32 F1's for next FRC event.

Since we're probably going to race on Tuesday I'll tell him.Luke wrote:Gordon,

McLaren surprised me. They were not doing too well in testing. Lewis is the fastest driver in F1, so that part was no surprise! Planning to get up to watch the race at 1:30 tomorrow morning.Luke wrote:I see your boy L.Hamilton split the 2 F1 RedBulls in the Australian GP Qualifying early this morning.

That's good news. I'm going to work on my cars too.Luke wrote:Going and work on my 1/32 F1's for next FRC event.
