Collision control

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

We have reached the point where cars are being damaged when this can be avoided. I am referring to situations where an immobile car (usually de-slotted) is blocking a lane and oncoming cars simply plough through it so as not to lose position to others during both races and qualifying sessions.

I initially thought of suggesting that we impose a severe penalty on the offending drivers (eg: demote their final position in the race or qualifying session by a place or two), however this can lead to disputes about whether or not the collision was avoidable. Instead, I will be activating the Power Base option that stops all power to the track (a Track Call) any time a running car de-slots. I have avoided this in the past since it can be very disruptive to the progress of a race - even cars which have de-slotted out of the path of others will suspend the race, but I will be giving it a try at our next event in the interest of reducing damage to cars.

After we all experience this option, we may well prefer to choose the penalty option and be more conscientious when coming upon a de-slotted car which is blocking the track.

Pity you cant introduce this to the Roads in T&T as a whole, for the people that drive like caca holes
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.-George Bernard Shaw
