Race report #69 - Thursday 10th March, 2011

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

After-Carnival aches and pains, along with some possible romantic commitments, kept the number of drivers down to seven for this week's event. Classes run were Historic Saloon, Restricted GT and Slot.It Challenge and as shown by the qualifying times, racing was very close. It was great to have Ray, our visitor from the US, attend his second FRC event and he did extremely well in Restricted GT, placing second overall for the night ahead of seasoned FRC drivers Paul, Luke, Dougie and Nicholas. Because of the small turnout, self-marshalling was in place so Ray had the full FRC experience, doing several "table laps" during the course of the night (as did everyone else).

As mentioned, qualifying was very close with just over 1.0 sec separating the first five HS cars, 0.781 sec all six RGT cars and 0.568 sec the six SC cars! Several drivers took top spots during the races making it difficult to predict the final championship placings in each class. Despite the small turnout, everyone enjoyed themselves, even Luke after he slipped and had a painful landing on the ground during one of his runs to retrieve his car.

Congratulations to the class championship winners and Paul for his Index of Performance win (by a rather large margin).

Next event's classes: Vintage Sports, Porsche Cup, F1 - see the regulations here.

See you on the circuit...
