Guys,
My mind's been racing recently so I might as well write down what I'm thinking. Here's another thought for everyone's consideration.
Any time we have enough drivers to run two (or more!) driver groups, instead of breaking down the groups by first six qualifiers in group A, next six in group B, etc. we can do it like this:
Odd-numbered qualifiers run in group 1, even-numbered qualifiers in group 2 (no more A and B) - drivers who qualify in positions 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 race in group 1, those who qualify in positions 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 race in group 2. Each group will of course get full points for their finishing positions - no discrimination.
OK, let's hear your thoughts and we can work out the details.

Another one - this time regarding driver grouping
Re: Another one - this time regarding driver grouping
New kind of idea here GG and all in good order ~ but tell me if I am correct with ...
Luke
- Odd/Even-numbered qualifiers for a Group 1 & 2 drivers plus alternating driver groups for Races 1 & 2 X 2

Re: Another one - this time regarding driver grouping
They are two separate suggestions Luke. The longer races has to do with the running of the races. The group 1 and 2 driver groupings is a suggestion of how to group the drivers for our races if we have a large turnout.
Re: Another one - this time regarding driver grouping
A-Okay GG,
I see what you mean ...
... but although its 2 separate suggestions, it seems my mind is racing too because looking like longer running races could work with the group 1 & 2 driver groupings
Especially with the number of persons taking part in this type event.
On another note - what about (mind racing) the LMP-E/GT-E endurance event (since June '14) plan ...
Yes, it was sort of left on a "FRC back burner" but is it still on the racing agenda

Re: Another one - this time regarding driver grouping
That LMP-E/GT-E event is still on my mind - I haven't forgotten it. Of course this will be a special event which we will have to set a specific date for (probably a Saturday) and give everyone proper notice so that teams can be arranged and cars prepared and tested.
Re: Another one - this time regarding driver grouping
Coming back to the driver grouping suggestion, this will not necessarily apply to IROC classes since we now have a pretty good system for this by having the same number of races as we have drivers.
Re: Another one - this time regarding driver grouping
GG,
GR8 to know the LMP-E/GT-E special event is still on your mind and do agree about the IROC (technically 7) classes ... & maybe the 3 OPEN classes as well.
Which means - these are the (7 to be exact) classes left to work with:
Or, by chance do you have anything in mind GG

Re: Another one - this time regarding driver grouping
Can't predict when we'll have our first driver group 1 and 2 races Luke. It depends on when we have a large enough group of drivers. I'm more interested in working out the details of how it should play out. For example, say we have enough drivers for two groups and its a regular race format (not the 15 min race suggestion), we know that there will be at least one race for each group. What happens after that? Do we have one more race for each group or do we have a third and final race for the top three drivers in each group?
Its details like these that have to be worked out.

That's true GG, about predicting the future ~ its difficult and I myself am not too sure what will happen next ...
Maybe we should discuss this topic in the open and not on the forum because only views and more views
