Racing this Thursday 5th February

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

FRC will be open for practice, testing and racing from 7:30 PM this Thursday (5th January) for our Group D classes, Modified Production - 3 races @ 30 laps, F1 - 5 races @ 30 laps, although we may decide to run 4 races for each class instead (amounting to the same total number of races). Remember that our events start no later than 8:30PM sharp. Here's the usual schedule:
  • Free practice and testing up to 8:30 PM
  • 8:30 PM SHARP - Qualifying followed by racing. Drivers not ready when called to grid will be replaced by any standby drivers who are ready.
  • Winning cars will be checked for compliance with the regulations after the last race for each class (excluding IROC classes). We may want to do the "upside-down" check on the MP cars after each race, so we'll decide this on race night.
  • After racing - Packing up and liming/old talk (but not too late!).
You can see the 2015 class regulations here and the general racing regulations here.

Here are the specific Modified Production and F1 class regulations (blue text indicates any changes for 2015):
  • Modified Production (MP)
    • Body: Must be based on a non-GT production car and must comply with General item 2. Windows may be tinted so as not to reveal the cockpit.

    • Eligible cars:

To qualify, body must be based on a non-GT car that is constructed principally for retail sale to consumers for their personal use and to transport people on public roads (no commercial or industrial vehicles are eligible), but may be modified by the addition of fender flares/extensions, wings and spoilers. Examples of non-eligible GT cars are Porsche 911/997, any Ferrari or Lamborghini and most cars with "GT" in their names. If in doubt about a particular car's eligibility, please email Gordon at quicklapper@gmail.com.
  • Formula 1 (F1)
For Scalextric and Carrera F1 cars that come standard with 18K FF motor.

Will be there for sure but, due to a family function, may be a bit late. Would there be any objection to running F1 first if I am not yet there when races are due to start ? I would really like to race in the Mod. Prod. class. I also think that the 'upside-down' checking of cars between races is fine.
