Racing this Thursday 11th December

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

FRC will be open for practice, testing and racing from 7:30 PM this Thursday (11th December) for our final scheduled event for 2014. You don't need to bring any cars as we'll be racing our new Vintage Sports IROC (VSIROC) class. As mentioned before, this new class features six unique cars from the '60s (no two are the same), running a variety of chassis, motors, gear ratios, wheel sizes, tyres, etc. They are of varying weights and specific calculated downforce (maximum downforce cannot exceed 3.5 times the car's weight). In tests they all do similar lap times of around 6.4 sec, so the racing should be close. We're also racing them without A and B subgroups. Instead here's how this particular event will be run (this example assumes that there will be 12 drivers):
  • All drivers will qualify the same car.
  • The top three qualifiers and 7th, 8th and 9th will drive the first six heats, each driver driving each car.
  • The 4th, 5th and 6th qualifiers and 10th, 11th and 12th will drive the next six heats, each driver driving each car.
  • The final six races will comprise the drivers placing in the first three positions in the two groups of heats, based on accumulated points. Again, each driver will drive each car.
  • Heat races will be over 15-20 laps, final races over 20-25 laps (we'll finalise this on race night).
You can read more about the cars we'll be racing here:

Remember that our events start no later than 8:30PM sharp. Here's the usual schedule:
  • Free practice and testing up to 8:30 PM
  • 8:30 PM SHARP - Qualifying followed by racing. Drivers not ready when called to grid will be replaced by any standby drivers who are ready.
  • Winning cars will be checked for compliance with the regulations after the last race for each class (excluding IROC classes)
  • After racing - Packing up and liming/old talk (but not too late!).
So come out and finish the 2014 slot car season in a special way where you're sure to have a great time. Don't forget to bring along some refreshments.

Ice Brigade: Luke B (of course!)

Thanks for pointing out the missing F1 results Ramesh. I've fixed it and changed the annual points results to be listed alphabetically instead of by class grouping, as the class groupings were changed during the year.

Fellas,

Sorry to let you'll know here ~ I'm not sure if I can make racing this Thursday because as most of you'll know, I don't have a motor vehicle again (for the time being) and I would have normally asked my brother to use his car for Thursday night but found out by chance he has a Christmas function to attend same night.

This is why I'm not sure if I will be able to attend racing @ FRC.

Hi Luke/Gordon,
I have an office function this evening after which I have to go to Valsayn. I'll be going straight from there to FRC so unfortunately will not be able to bring Luke tonight. Luke, if you can somehow make your way to FRC however, I'll have no problem with dropping you home afterwards.
