RACE REPORT #115 - JANUARY 17TH 2013

Hi Guys,

For the second event in succession, seven drivers turned up for our Lambo Series, F1 and Modified Production class races and competition was as close as always for most of the time.

A point worth mentioning: In the first F1 race I had an experience which should be a lesson for all FRC competitors. Fairly early into the race I had apparently driven into Arden's car on exiting the final turn, something instigated by a temporary blind situation when another driver blocked my view. Both our cars de-slotted and Arden called a "drive-through". Having not seen what happened, I thought that we had both been driven through by an unidentified other driver, so I continued driving to the end of the race without doing the obligatory stop-and-go penalty in the pits, something I would always do. The moment the race ended, Arden asked me if I had done the penalty. It was at that moment that I realised that I was the one who had done the drive-through and of course had not done the penalty, something that automatically demoted me from winner of the race to last place.

So, here's the lesson for all of us: If ever someone calls a "drive-through" ensure that you are not the person responsible. Likewise, if ever someone does a "drive-through" on you, be sure to notify the person and tell them that they must do a stop-and-go before the race ends. In my situation it sullied my F1 results and stopped me from winning the night's overall championship. So, all take heed!

Congratulations to the winners.

Next event's classes: American Muscle - 3 races @ 40 laps, GT - 3 races @ 40 laps, LMP - 3 races @ 40 laps. Don't forget to see the updated fastest times for the FRC classes to know what the benchmarks are for your cars. Also of interest are the updated class average qualifying times.

See you on the circuit...

Great night of racing as usual, the first 2 drivers' totals being separated by only 1 point ! I emerged victorious in the end , but only due to Gordon's unfortunate demotion in the first F1 race because of an unserved drive-through penalty. Well done Gordon, for emerging as F1 champ despite this setback. Jonathan was very pleased to see his orange BMW 320i win a race and actually power me to victory overall in Mod. Prod. on its first outing. It ended up with some 'battle scars' (broken rear spoiler, broken exhaust pipe) but that's all par for the course. My F1 Renault also needs some minor nose surgery. Great to see 'Boo' in action (as well as the rest of guys) again. His and Mike's comments , as well as Alex's usual jokes kept us entertained both during and in between races.

Gordon,
My Apologies. I will be able to race on Tuesday.
BTW Gordon, Steve paid a tidy some to win Champion Driver of the Night. You know he could not do it all by himself. Thanks Steve LOL :D

Sorry again.

GG - Well done pulling off the F1 race this week and know its been awhile for you too. The Q/Time you set was excellent and although Arden's time wasn't far behind, his expirence at the FRC circuit was - especially when its up aganist you. Better luck next time Arden. It could have been worst for you, you know if I had that pace too but I personally knew from the day before I was going to be off the pace but still tried. The F1 racing @ FRC is the most sensitive race over all the others and maybe we should have some kind of race breifing/reminder with the regs for all competitors.

Or we could just do like Stevo and do some of that car, body & mind meditating he was doing at the track

Well done Steve for holding down 2 out the 3 classes.

BTW ~ I will be coming very, very strong for GT, AM & LMP classes, so ready or not WATCHOUT :!:

This is Lastari, the first and the LAST of the great racers. Coming last is not a nice thing but if you are there regularly it becomes comfortable as you do not have to worry about anyone passing you or running into you.

Guys it was lots of fun on Thursday, be it all a bit scary at times in the F1 category, as I really thought that I might have to say "Round 1" and ring a bell. Somehow thank God we all came through unscathed.

Looking forward to my next encounter with the slots, where I could find some comfort.

Arden, why yuh had to tell everyone I paid ? We were supposed to keep that to ourselves and let everyone think that it was the meditation, which Luke mentioned, that worked !

Congrats Steve.

Sorry Boo, but I can't have the event on Tuesday. It will most likely be on Thursday, but will be announced before as usual.

No apology needed Arden... that's racing. As I mentioned, its a good lesson for everyone to bear in mind.

Looking out for you in our fast classes Luke. Hope I get the time to do a little fine-tuning on my cars.

Mike... what can I say. Just make sure you wear your helmet next time :)
