The Index of Performance (IoP) is an award given to the driver who has improved his finishing positions over his start positions more than any other driver at each FRC event. Its basically an "overtaking award". Following is an example of how this is computed for a single driver over two classes of three races each:
Class A
Class A
- Race 1 - Grid Position: 3... Place: 1... IoP Points: 3 - 1 = 2
- Race 2 - Grid Position: 1... Place: 5... IoP Points: 1 - 5 = -4
- Race 3 - Grid Position: 5... Place: 2... IoP Points: 5 - 2 = 3
- IoP Total: 2 - 4 + 3 = 1
- Race 1 - Grid Position: 6... Place: 2... IoP Points: 6 - 2 = 4
- Race 2 - Grid Position: 2... Place: 1... IoP Points: 2 - 1 = 1
- Race 3 - Grid Position: 1... Place: 4... IoP Points: 1 - 4 = -3
- IoP Total: 4 + 1 - 3 = 2
